Oh well, I guess worst case scenario, they miss the playoffs, and they replace Sides. They probably need a new GM too, this team is terrible defensively, and that has to be partly down to personnel.

This race is far from over. Fever are in 8th, have won 6 out of 10...I would be shocked if they don't make the playoffs. Can they leapfrog Chicago and catch the Mercury is the bigger question

There's also a question of whether or not they can reach .500. And some people think the race with Chicago will determine who ROTY is. Not that that's important, but a lot of people are talking about it.

That person who said that is under the impression that basketball isn't a team sport

Actually, I've heard several sports media people say that.

I've also heard a similar take, which makes more sense to me: Which team's record is most improved over last year (if at all)? That would make some sort of statement over which player has impacted the team winning.

It's a better idea but still bad, because it incorrectly assumes that everybody but the two ROY candidates are constants. For example, Chennedy Carter came out of nowhere this year for the Sky, and has been hugely important to the team's improvement. But now her contributions don't matter, because any extra games that the Sky won are due solely to the addition of Angel Reese?

Pshaw. That's ridiculous.

(Just an example. I could probably make a similar argument with a Fever player's improvement, but I choose Carter because her case is so obvious.)

It's a horrible take and it's one I have never seen used in the NBA as criteria for ROY. It's absolutely ridiculous.

If this is 4 years from now and we're talking MVP race because the Fever and Sky are fighting for the #1 seed overall, okay absolutely. But this is rookie of the year. Both teams are under .500 and are most certainly going to get knocked out by the Liberty and Sun. Who cares what their records are?

Both players continue to improve month to month. That's really all I am concerned about. The fact that they keep pushing the envelope individually is why I can't even call this race

The Spurs won 22 games the year before they got Wemby and won 22 games the year that they got him. So, Wemby adds no value at all. On the other, OKC got A LOT better. Let's pick Chet!

Who on the Fever has upped her game this season? I wasn't watching last year.

As Ionescu said about the recent Fever/Liberty game: "This is their Super Bowl". Seems like whoever has the better record between the Sky and Fever will be their Super Bowl.

What is it with all these teams with no "s" on the end in the WNBA?

Caitlin is FUN to watch. All time assist in a game watch, she currently has 7 with time left in the first.

LOL someone in Clark's inner circle needs to put together a highlight clip of her whining in-game. As a fan of basketball it's probably one of the most annoying things to see players do: constantly complaining. Yes refs are awful, but even when her teammates mess up she throws up her hands.

There's an old saying in basketball. If you're throwing a pass to someone and it results in a turnover, that's on the passer.

Now I saw earlier that CC threw a slick bounce pass to Mitchell that resulted in a turnover. Mitchell told her afterwards to throw a chest pass to her.

CC's gotta know her personnel better. Sometimes you gotta make the more simple play over the highlight

Yeah she be complaining, read her lips and she told the refs "you're so bad". Phx has a ton of players out but that was fun basketball to watch as a Fever fan. Its like they took some of the passing and cutting mojo from the Mystics.
