poll: what position should Mr. #15 be?

The Magic has 14 contracts and thus can sign one more free-agent on a LLE exemption deal.

What position do you think that will be?

The obvious answer here is a PF or nobody at all.

Isaac goes down? Da Silva fills in.

Nobody else can fill in at the position other than maybe Moe(?)

There is enough depth 1-3 to run three guard/wing lineups. The rest are true Centers and Isaac with Paolo out.

I think Da Silva will back up Franz. A front line off Moe, Da Silva, and Black or Jett wouldn't work. If Isaac is out, I think I'd play Goga at the 5 and give Moe the night off.

The biggest hole on the team is point guard so it should be that

My guess is the FO doesn't think we necessarily need anyone right now. Who is available that is going to be a real difference maker and find minutes ahead of the other 14 already on the roster? Probably no one.

Unless there's an under the radar project they feel strongly about it'll stay open is my guess.

It's been suggested that the 15th roster spot could likely be anyone to put on payroll to help match salaries for a trade this season. I would imagine that the numbers for plenty of scenarios have been run and we aren't privileged to what they're plan is. I think they would've already signed someone at whatever $ amount needed if that is the plan

Which leaves the last available possibility and probably the most likely. The 15th roster spot will remain open to provide flexibility to sign a player without a deal during the season in the event of season ending injuries. At that point in time it will be well established what position of depth will be needed.

I think we need a vet PG for the 15th mentorship role. Kinda like Jingles. When the kids were wilding, he calmed them down even on the bench. Then if none of our guards can bring the ball up due to pressure, he can step in.

I wouldn't mind them giving the 15th spot to TRoss or DJ Augustin. We don't need any more competition for minutes.

Here's what AI thinks their child would look like: I set Anderrson as the father and Antetokounmpo as the mother.

Cute kid!

An interesting philosophy!

In the Howard years, there was always a Stacey Augmon type that got the Mr #15 slot.

I don't care as long as it's not Fultz.

I think at the very least we are leaving it open for a SL player. Whether on our team or another.

We usually run 10-man rosters. So I kinda expect it to be PF / F because we have guards for days on paper.

No minutes for that player at all.

Honestly sounds like prime Chris Paul....

Any PG we get at 15 will likely have only 1 of those qualities. Also Ingles was a F.

#15 will be some backup backup injury insurance guy that will likely be in street clothes on the bench.

There are like… 5-6 guys on this roster that can fill in at point guard.

I think we go with 14 for now and see if a trade opportunity avails itself before training camp. Other than that I'm inclined to say a real point guard; if you look at every position and check what players COULD play that position, you get something like this:

PG: Suggs, Cole, AB (3)
SG: Suggs, KCP, Harris, AB, Jett, Houstan (6)
SF: Franz, TdS, KCP, Harris, AB, Jett, Houstan, JI (heck, Paolo) (7.5)
PF: Paolo, Franz, TdS, JI, Moe, Wendell (6)
C: Wendell, JI, Moe, Goga, Paolo (5)

It's not that surprising that the roster shakes out like this, considering our FO's liking for players with size, versatile skills and IQ. You get a lot of small forward-ish guys, I guess.

(the Magic's own site lists 15, I'm assuming Trevelin Queen is the odd man out)

We should get a vet PG who can mentor Jalen Suggs & Anthony Black and help mold their PG abilities

My vote goes for John Wall

This is my feeling. I voted SF, but I could see a combo-forward as well.

What I don't expect is a 14-man roster on opening night. Maybe the Magic waits until late pre-season to see if any random injuries occur, though.
