The Tunnel and the Limelight were the only two I went to but, I remember the China Club Copa and Latin Quarter

I had friends who worked at Limelight. Had friends who were bouncers and dealers at some other listed clubs.

Craziest thing that immediately comes to mind was about 20 years ago, just getting to or just leaving a bar/club downtown in Alphabet City (I can't remember, but we were right at the front door, just inside or just outside), and a massive scene exploding with people running, getting tackled, shouting, and just pure chaos. Went from that happy, laughing drunk to intense fear, sprinting and trying to find/regroup with my people and figure out what the hell was going on. Turns out the bouncer had gotten hemmed up by some guys, and ended up being knifed. He died right there, and the killers went running.

Somebody mentioned club exit in the Trump thread, I used to hit that one up pretty regular, that whole time was a blur for me.

Ah, so here's a story.
I went to a rave at the Roxy sometime around 2000 I think.
Maybe it was mentioned on the flyer, but I had no clue.
I was rolling hard, having great time. Then sometime well after midnight the music suddenly stops.
All you hear is "Lodi Dodi...Lodi Dodi ... Lodi Dodi..."

Then a curtain parts and Slick Rick the Ruler, freshly out of prison, emerges in Fur Coat, eye patch and all, and proceeds to rock the mic.
"... WE LIKES TO PARTY ..."
It seems less impressive now, but he had been in jail during the 90s golden age, and had kind of achieved this mythical status.
Needless to say I was ... ahem ... ecstatic.

I went once.....quite an experience being one of the few sober people in a sea of ecstasy. I think it was after it's hayday. That's the thing about these clubs they can only stay hot for so long.

So true. I remember going to Luxx in Williamsburg right after "Electroclash" blew up, for those who can remember that.
I felt like I was at the center of the world.
I went back one month later and it was dead.
Probably my arrival marked the end, all the cool kids got out of dodge

I was going to those spots since the 80s. Only a couple of times. PRIMARILY went in the mid to late 90s when I ran with my crazy "girlfriend". God rest her soul she was probably top 2 of women I ever hung with. Just down for whatever whenever wherever. We had a few wild years and then she was gone. About a year after I last saw her. Passenger in a drunk driving accident.

This thread just kicked me in the balls actually. Cheers mate!! Nothing a few more lagers can't fix!

The bathroom at CBGBs was one of the dirtiest places I ever got action in. That place was wild too.

Ok going way back to the Early 90's ...the Palladium on East 14th...I swear this song makes me think of that time , this club, and west 8th street lined up with all those shoe stores that catered to club culture. Song was stuck in my head for weeks.

I went in there for a few minutes not too long ago just to be in the old building. It’s a clothes store now

Same. Or was it a record store for a minute? Used to love going there.

Also walking around the village bar hopping. Saw Colin Quinn in front of a small club he was doing a show at. We were outside on the sidewalk and he was hanging there. We shot the **** for a good ten minutes. He was like come in and see my show. We were like nah man, we're going to the Blue Note or whatever the place was we were going to. We were whacked out of our minds. He laughed. Cool guy.

When I was old enough to to get into bars on Long Island where I grew up, there was the Farmindgale local dive bar Mer’s Pub where most people ended up at night (bars could stay open all night back then), there was Oak Beach Inn (OBI) South which was an indoor/outdoor club on the water in between Jones and Robert Moses state beaches (not far from Tobay Beach). That’s where we hung out during the summer on the weekends. The last place on long IslNd of any notoriety was Fulton Stree Pub located on Hempstead Turnpike in Farmingdale. It’s now Palmer’s Steakhouse or Restaurant. Good food there. When it was Fulton Street Pub, we’d see Billy Joel and Dr. J stop by every once in awhile.

Worked at Captree Boat Basin all through the mid and late 80s. Loved the OBI!

I started going to the city for clubbing I wanna say 2002 or something like that. And it was primarily two places Exit and Sound Factory but I've been to Webster, China Club each once.

Don't wanna go into details but...you know what I took. What I'm probably more embarrassed by is I ran with a crew of meatheads and we always had our shirts off. I never weighed more than 175lbs yet walking around with my shirt off like I'm some body builder or something.
