Some of these speculative max extensions are going to be clear albatrosses before they even kick in.

Yeah, I love Mobley and Cade. Teams were stuck and forced to pay them both. Same with Magic and Wagner. But all of those contracts will end poorly.

USA is a horrible fit. Embiid is the G(dnp-inj)OAT.

Yeah, I don’t get the max rookie extensions. Like, sure they are typically for 30% not 35% of the cap, but that’s still a ton.

Why don’t more teams just wait? You have them as RFA’s anyway, and if you were already willing to give them a max, then the young player actually proving they are worth that contract doesn’t set you back any farther - you literally can’t go any higher.

What’s really the risk of waiting?

They had other reasons for it but the Sixers waited a year for Maxey. Seemed to work out fine.

Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

So four years, $45 million is the going rate for a good Hauser?

It's fairly modest, but I feel like my Hause was valued at a LOT less than that 4 years ago. Property prices are crazy.

As someone that has a couple of connections to Hauser, happy for Sam.
