Re: Around the League
Duran and Stew seem to miss 25 games a year, add that to 8-10 back to backs, and the 6-10 games stew is highly needed at the 4, that’s like 70 games, plus he pushes them both up a level more than Bagley or Wiseman.

I dunno...I think Klay is washed. He's better than THj, but I'd still have at least 3-5 teams ahead of them.ducler wrote:Mavs roster is deep af, will be interesting to see if they can do better than last season

Re: Around the League
Random thing that kind of annoys me. This trade; “The Kings send Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov and the No. 45 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Raptors for Jalen McDaniels”
Is now essentially Raptors unload meh wing for bust lottery pick PG and a second round pick. I realize no one knew Sasha was done with the NBA, but I’d have taken a small gamble on Davion for free.
No it’s not a significant move, and honestly Davion could be another Malachi Flynn situation.
So oh well, rant over

For that one game Malachi was fantastic!

Yup, Klay can still space the floor but overall they would have been much better with another three and D guy than just Klay. Heck I think they'd have been better off with Font than Klay.
If you look at players who played at least 1200 minutes last season, advanced stats have guys like Bojan Bogdanovic, Trae Young, Kyle Kuzma, Saddiq Bey, Jordan Poole, Alec Burks, Tyus Jones, Jaden Ivey, Jalen Green, Tim Hardaway Jr, Klay Thompson and Cade Cunningham in the bottom 25 players in the league on defense out of guys getting that many minutes (which isn't a ton its 60 games at 20 minutes per game on average).

But we've moved on from three others in the past two years!

Re: Around the League
Just as an aside, has anyone else been paying attention to the Knick fan estimated value of Julius Randle?
It is so far off base, that I can hardly talk about it, without sounding like a jerk. Most of the trades I've seen on their board, or on the trade board involve the Rockets.
Smith Jr/Adams/Eason/+picks=Randle
In what universe is that sane?
Sengun/Brooks for Randle seems sane in comparison, but still, who the hell would trade a young, up and coming offensively dynamic center AND a defensive, decent shooting (3/D)SF for an almost 30 Randle, who wants a massive max contract?
I mean am I wrong? Am I seeing Randle in the wrong light here?

Fans overrate their players. Especially if they put up big numbers.
It’s annoying but not new.

Re: Around the League
Part of it is a lot of non Knick fans don't value Randle all that much (for obvious reasons) while the trade ideas are likely made by dudes who are over valuing Randle.zeebneeb wrote:Just as an aside, has anyone else been paying attention to the Knick fan estimated value of Julius Randle?

As Snake said it's not uncommon for fans to overvalue their own players but is this situation the canyon is that wide and deep because of the perception of Randle.

New York fans have always been delusional, it’s just extra annoying now that they actually have a squad and don’t know how to act.

Drummond has nowhere near the ceiling he once did. He's no longer a good NBA athlete, he's already too slow to play defense in space, he's not a good roll many anymore, and he's as bad as a scorer as ever.
He's a decent enough backup on the right team -- one which asks little of him on offense and has the personnel to help him out on defense -- but that's all.
That said, it confuses me why Pistons fans would want the guy back. As he himself admits, he was a mess as a Piston, and it was largely his own fault.

But he’s also essentially become a designated center. Last two years with the Bulls; 7.3 pts per game, 7.8 rebs per game, 58 fg% in 15.1 minutes per game. Over 146 games with 10 starts. Is it amazing for a player, no. Are they solid numbers for an affordable backup center, heck yeah. I wouldn’t mind seeing him back in Detroit, if we’re at a spot where his role in limited minutes helps push us forward.

What do you mean by designated center?
Like I said, he's a decent center for a team that asks very little of him on offense (where he still sucks) and can compensate for his defensive shortcomings (which are very real). That's unlikely to be this team anytime soon.

Re: Around the League
We *do* need some size and he's still one of the best rebounders in the league. I'm not going to advocate for it to happen, but I wouldn't be upset if it did because he's turned himself into a role player and he plays to that role. He's a damn good backup for Embiid.

Ok. Kind of like a specialist of the past. Small role, paid accordingly, successful at what he does. But not much else.
I’m just saying it wouldn’t be crazy for him to come back. I’m not trying to debate when we’re going to be a team that can ask very little of him. That comes off as changing the discussion, mid discussion
This is what this is all about
