i'm a Euro but I have to say I think the fact that shoe giants dictate the roster for team USA is shameful. if I were American, i'd be low key rooting for them to lose, so's there will be a public outrage over the team not selecting players who are clearly better (like JB and Kyrie) to serve the interests not of the American team or American ppl but rather those of an internation shoe conglomerate - is that the OIympicp spirit? hardly

it won't happen obviously, because USA is too good and too loaded anyway but it is shameful, i'd be sick to my stomach if my national team did that

We don’t care enough about any international sport for there to be public outrage. The most popular sport is American ‘football’ and obviously, the rest of the world doesn’t care about that at all.

What are your main concerns with TEAM USA?

Doesn’t seem like they have a strong identity of play style. Guys like Booker, Tatum, Edwards are shining as much as I thought they would. LBJ, AD, BAM, Jrue have played terrific for the most part. Curry has been hot and he’s been lukewarm. Also LBJ/Embiid duo is just awful for now.

Having an African mom and having spent my childhood in Africa, I'm not really surprised by those kind of comments, however, I do get annoyed when the guys from the US insist on calling themselves African Americans while they always s*** on Africa every chance they get.

To be fair I've never met a black African who didn't s*** on black Americans too LOL
But thats a total of 5 people I know from Zimbambwe and Nigeria, so maybe it's a coincidence

Yeah 5 people cant represent 1 billion people in 50 different countries, mere coincidence is at best.

Sure some of us are annoyed by the fact some black Americans simplify the life of the people in the continent as "the motherland" when they come from the richest country in the world. Specially since our homelands like mine in Somalia or Deng in Sudan has decades of civil war to recover from. It is more funny like Trevor Noah joking about black Americans coming home to West Africa or South Africa.

Still I wouldn't judge millions of African Americans differently because Arenas is ignorant, xenophobic fool who cares more about the country that hates his minority compared to his ancestors. I hope he made a silly joke with his remark but then there is a lot of colorism, self hate among the Diaspora.
