Why did Spain take the TO during the FT’s? Could they not advance it if they took the TO after SGA made it?

Btw… STRAYA!!

Can we be honest - USA is horrible for international basketball

As a Canadian fan it is kind of sad to know that you’re essentially playing for second.

Can yall break up into like 3/4 different teams next time? Hahahaha

Triple tie 1-2, Greece, Spain and Australia.

Worst point differential among the three is Spain, and they are out.

Greece and Spain are both on -8. This is so confusing, I love it.

4 Serbia vs 5 Australia
3 Canada vs 6 France

That France vs Germany tiff could of course shake up the standings. If France pulls of the (minor) upset, Canada jumps to #2 but if France gets a big blowout win they could take over that spot.

With the condition that QF opponents can’t be previous groupmates, Canasa will be forced to avoid the weaker opponent (Australia) and instead could get France (or Germany/Serbia)

Yes i can’t wait for the final score for the final final point differential. LOL

How does the brackets work. I think Canada is locked into 2 or 3, correct? If so, is there a chance they play the US before a potential gold medal game if the US stays at 1?

A burned timeout for that? I guess they didn't want Canada to set up on D but WOW a burned timeout for that...

Congrats to Canada for advancing.

Get this weak talk out of here. You always want to beat their best, no matter what.

The results vs Canada don't count.

2 Australia
3 Greece
4 Spain

To get the #2 seed, Canada needs France to beat Germany by 3 pts or less, or by 4 pts if they don't score 85pts. It's possible but unlikely

That’s what I was thinking… couldn’t they advance the ball if they called TO after the made FT by SGA?!

Questionable move, but they used it there in case Shai missed second. Bird in the hand situation...

THis was last Rudy Fernandez game as a PRO.

Does seed #2 and seed #3 go on the other side of the bracket (compared to the USA, who assuming get the #4 seed on their side) ?

Updated projected QF pairings:

If Germany wins vs France

1 USA vs 8 Brazil
4 Serbia vs 5 Australia
3 Canada vs 6 France
2 Germany vs 7 Greece

If France wins vs Germany

1 USA vs 8 Brazil
4 Serbia vs 5 Australia
3 Canada vs 6 Germany
2 France vs 7 Greece

Let’s go France? So we get that lovely 3 v 6 matchup? LOL

Interesting and gutsy coaching from Scariolo, no wonder he is such a legendary coach. Box and one d, faux zones, and he closed the game with Pradilla and Brizuela, who essentially suppose to be end of bench guys. But thye had great game so they stayed, most coaches would have subbed their big name guys no matter what, something what Spanoulis for example was doing in his two games he lost.
Timeout before Shai shooting was questionable, but Spain had to anticipate Shai would miss second on purpose I imagine. I thought that.

Took him way too long to give up on Brown, but other than that good job.

He has either had the best European national team by far, or he has had the incredible Spanish offense and defense systems, which he inherited from previous coaches.

He's done absolutely jack squat as a EuroLeague coach.
