No Christmas game again. A little surprised there wasn’t a matchup with the Sixers.

Tragic, really. One and done at Kentucky. 11 ppg on 35%/30% shooting? Should have stayed in school and learned the game. IMO, a G-League education is far inferior to an NCAA one, especially at a primo program like Kentucky.

He fell to the late second round, and is now on a non-guaranteed training camp deal at age 22, hanging on to his pro career by his fingernails.

perhaps so- but it's hard to know what would have happened if he had stayed in school. His body never really matured into an NBA body- perhaps he needed to hit the weight room and eat a bit more

The thing about staying in school is that it doesn't always work out. Sometimes you stay in school and it just confirms to people that you aren't very good vs them saying, "he's young and has potential"

Boston still wants to be a scorer in the NBA, the problem is that he's an awful volume scorer at the NBA level (wasn't good at college either).

What he likely needs to be an NBA player is to totally re-shape his focus and to focus on being a defensive guy / offensive role player. That can be a tough pill to swallow for a player, especially if they do have some offensive skill to get shots off, which he does, it's just that his offensive skill does not result in the ball falling into the basket often enough at this level. Shot taking skill is great, but if they aren't going in very often, not so great anymore.

If his mentality of what kind of NBA player he can be doesn't change, then he will be out of the league soon enough.

Tough call on the Olympic final. The only Clipper is Batum and I hate Kerr and most of the US team.

Or he could've gotten exposed as a sub par player his second year in at Kentucky and never got drafted at all. He can make the Spurs roster if he can find his jumper again which disappeared this past season. We'll see.

Guerschon Yabusele in his prime and high-confidence right now at PF with Batum -- who says no? : )

Lightning in a bottle situation.

Defensive versatility, toughness inside, athleticism at forward, and shooting. Already got the connection with Batum.

Only concern is not controlling his mass, but that hasn't been an issue.

he was impressive, but I wonder how mobile he can be at that weight and also whether he can shoot

Team USA still has a Clipper, even if he is not a player: Coach Tyronn Lue, serving as assistant. He has gold now, his first.

He's definitely slimmer than he was with Boston.

He shot just 32% 3PT on his 65 attempts in the NBA, but that was also like 5 years ago.

In Euroleague since then he's shot 40%, but that is still the shorter line, though the corners would work for that percentage.

Someone will probably give him a shot. Clippers can be a good option for him because there's need at his position of play, so that could be a smart move.

He definitely fits and looks way better than he did during his Celtics days. I'd ditch PJ and take a swing on him. He had a stellar Olympics and balled out on a massive big stage going against a Mount Rushmore of stars in a one game elimination for the gold.

i mean i'm sure we'd all ditch pj for a grocery bag full of rocks if we could, but getting a big body that could actually contribute would be the dream

Yeah. Agreed all.. I mean I think its a no-brainer for this team, and the situation at PF.. like, people from the team had to of been watching the olympics and France closely, in the least because of Batum. JVG to me would be a fan of a guy like Yabusele.

I hope Batum is lobbying for him to come to the Clips.. almost feel like he is : )

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/276988/Guerschon-Yabusele-Has-$25M-NBA-Buyout-In-Deal-With-Real-Madrid

Guerschon Yabusele was one of the stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yabusele played well enough for France that buzz has begun about him making a second run at the NBA.

Yabusele's deal with Real Madrid includes a $2.5 million NBA buyout. That amount reportedly jumped up from $1 million on July 15. An NBA team can put up to $850,000 towards the buyout for the player. That amount is then reflected in the player's cap hit.
