Timezone check; what time is the gold medal match tip-off for you?

3AM Sunday for me. Perhaps a few sips of wine before it starts or maybe get an hour or two sleep and just set the alarm. But Euro starts are the worst times for me in our side of the world. LOL

I feel somewhat conflicted.

I badly want Wembanyama to have a monster game.

But I also badly want the US to win.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

I’m concerned about France just getting every call and playing with so much energy. But I think basketball tactically they are easier than Serbia

Read on Twitter

Lebron needs 43p 19r 12a to catch up.
He will not but he will have big scoring game since USA is winning it by 30 and he is here for that MVP.
It is funny that he will win it even though they could win gold without him.

lol, why do you keep bringing up the Fiji Islands? See, this really gives the game away.

Like I totally and completely understand how aggravating it is to have foreign posters come in here and take ignorant potshots at our league and our players. I get it. Truly. And I totally understand the desire to push back on that and plant the flag, perhaps even aggressively. I've done it for years. There are at least a few other posters I've been dying to see pop their heads back up but they probably won't now that we're on the verge of another gold.

But you're basically doing the same exact sht when, for example, you keep bringing up some random Pacific island in comparison to diminish non-NBA competition. Which I even get to an extent; I too get tired of hearing about the Euroleague as if it's even remotely in the same galaxy as the NBA. But that doesn't mean it and a handful of other leagues still aren't high quality. That's where they would be playing, not some isolated backwater. And why would a player of his caliber and schooling be significantly diminished by that? Why would he not still be a world-class player?

For the majority of these players, the NBA builds on strong foundations that have already been built elsewhere and that should be respected. That's it. It shouldn't be that hard to understand. If it's still not sinking in, go back to the very first wave of players who actually did come over here in the 80s/90s as finished products, and how good they were, and recognize that things have improved light years since then.

What are you even arguing about? Who said European leagues have not improve? Of course they have. I said that the NBA plays a big role in building the players with strong foundation into the finish product that they are. That is not a controversial statement. If you interview Doncic himself, he would say the same thing.

Everyone one can see that. Seriously, what are you even arguing about? You are like arguing about nothing standing in front of a mirror.

Just for future discussions, get to your argument quicker, it will save everyone time.

lol, seriously.

Sad that germans didnt get any medals, they deserved it.

Nah Serbia just choked. Blaming the refs when more than half their shots were from 3 and still got nearly the same amount of FTs as the US. Then they proceeded to flop to try and cheat the game because they couldn’t make shots under pressure. It happens though, they weren’t made for the moment and that’s why they’ll always be a team that never actually wins a gold medal.

I don’t think anyone on Team USA cares. Also no one player is going to stand out for a team when they have so much talent. Between limited minutes and one basketball that’s not how this team maximizes their ability to win if one guy is trying to get his. The US is unique in that regard compared to the rest of the field.

Well ... When I read some (actually a lot), it's like France did not deserve to reach the gold medal game.

I really dislike what Collet have done since ... 2015. But France has talents !
During 1st round, we played really bad basketball. It made me sick. But if you think we didn't deserve our game Vs Japan, you are wrong. The Japanese def made a huge mistake on Strazel. Actually if you put your hand on the hip of the guy who is making a jump shot, you are in his cylinder and make a foul.

Then the quarter and semi ... Ok maybe Canada and Germany were better teams, but we beat them. Canada has superstars, but play small ball. His method was an over pressure on ball and then they didn't suffer of their lack of weight in the paint. But it didn't work this time, and we served a top Euroleague center and they were unable to defend him (Lessort).
Germany, they clearly had a better team. But listen Schroeder after the game "they benched Gobert, it was huge". So it's like Euroleague players were not on the scouting report!

I understand Pesic who said that Serbia Germany should be the gold medal. But actually basketball is not a sport with points given by judged. The one who scores more than the other wins. Not necessary the best team. I accepted France's lose versus Argentina in 2019, and then in 2022 versus Spain (but reaching final was such a miracle), even if on the papper we had a better team. Scola and Bo Cruz walked on us. That's it.
LA 2028 (Starters):
Francisco - Strazel - Malédon - Traoré ?
Coulibaly - Fournier
Risacher - Cordinier
Yabusele- Hoard - Essengue/Penda?
Wembanyama - Lessort - Raynaud / Beringer /Sarr?

Pacific Time Zone is the best time zone for sporting events...football starts at 9 or 10am depending on college or pro. Basketball is always afternoon / early evening.

Pesic really that salty? Choked like a bitch and still talking?

Try not to go 0-9 from 3 in the most important quarter of the game and maybe your team might have made the gold medal game. Got outcoached and outplayed when it mattered most.

I’ve never seen a bunch of crybaby’s after losing a game in epic chokejob fashion like Serbia did. Take the loss like a man instead of being a sore **** loser. Nobody will have respect for these clowns, we didn’t hear this nonsense from Spain in 2008 and 2012.

USA -16.5
O/U 175.5

Thoughts?

Totally blank for this match-up as am scared of the French (refs mainly LOL). i know it’s going to be an easier win relative to the Serbia game but they are capable of making this close.

Leans are US spread and Over but, again, still trying to see if i should flip one or two!

Obviously you care a lot you keep replying. Man never knew a small team like Serbia with like 2 nba players would bother you so much. I am just happy gold will go to the most talented team. This should cement the legacy of Lebron,KD and Curry in international play. They are all above Melo in my books. But serious you should relax and enjoy the game coming up

Poster said they don't think 'anyone ON TEAM USA CARES' if Jokic has the most points/assists/anything else in the tournament.

Not sure why you're trying to 'gotcha' the poster by saying 'obviously you care a lot'.

I don't see what they said as being wrong. I don't think any of the players on Team USA (with possibly the exception of a guy who isn't playing much) is overly concerned with the stats they put up in the Olympic tournament and only care about coming home with a gold medal.
