Of the old ones that have gone but I remember as good: THE AMERICANS; BLOODLINE (except the very ending because Netflix would not fund it properly and AMERICAN HORROR STORY (the Florida Carnival one where Jessica Lange did a good imitation of Marlene Dietrich stuck in the backwater sticks). And of course, JUSTIFIED.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but a lot of the newer shows I tend to lose interest in. Often the main character is too intense. Some shows, maybe I'll give them a try again. I kind of liked Reacher, but started to lose interest late in the first season.

For now, I'm watching The Mentalist, which is very formulaic TV, but it's the kind of TV I can veg out and enjoy. There's an interesting puzzle that runs through the show. Likable characters. Some twists. I've always liked Robin Tunney. She's likable on screen for some reason. Even when she was bald for that one film. You could call it a guilty pleasure show.

It's not great TV. Kind of reminds me of Monk, which I also thought wasn't great but was watchable.

Reacher is entertaining at first, but it devolves into the worst kind of rote let's shoot at each other now because there's no real story here stuff. I somehow managed to finish season 1, but season 2 started off so bad I shut it down

When an attractive woman shaves their head, sometimes it accentuates their beauty like it did for Natalie Portman

On bald ladies . . . not my thing. I just like Robbin as an actress. She hasn't done that much. I thought she was the only redeaming part in that terrible Arnold movie "End of days" and she was in the House Pilot, where House made one of his great speeches. That set the tone for the whole show.

Annie Lenox maybe, but that was just very short hair, not bald.

Thanks for the tip on Reacher. I did like it at first. I don't remember why I stopped watching. I just remember getting tired of it.

To me, the best shows were those about 8-20 years old. The West Wing, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Homeland. Foyle's War was great too, if anyone hasn't seen it. It's not on brit-box though, which sucks. Just the older stuff, some of it's OK. I don't mind my brit-box subscription but it could be better.

Better Call Saul was more recent and quite good. I'd add Angel and Buffy to my favorite list if I wasn't too embarrassed to say they're among my top shows.

I don't have Netflix currently, so I haven't watched queens gambit, but the first episode didn't grab me, which I saw part of at my brother's.

I still like some of the cheesy TV formula shows like Medium, Life, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds. I guess there's a crime and catch the bad guys theme in there.

I LOVED Devs, which was more recent, but that was a one and done. So few shows do quantum physics well (please don't say End Game - good movie, the physics wasn't real physics). There was some talk about a second season for Devs, but the first season closed so tightly, I don't know where they were going to take it and I gather that talk has died down. I've tried to get into some newer shows, but mostly I don't care for them.

Loved Wanda Vision too, but that's where Marvel subscription peaked. It's been downhill since then. Loki was OK I guess. Hawkeye was fun, but so much garbage in their streaming. I cancelled my Marvel subscription. Curious about Agatha (Aubrey Plaza could read the phonebook and I'd give it a watch). That comes out next month, but I'm going to wait for reviews.

What did you think of Peacemaker, anyone who saw it? That was one of the few recent shows that I enjoyed start to finish. It shouldn't have worked. I remember reading a comment that, of all the characters in James Gunn's suicide squad to make a spin-off about. Peacemaker was the worst choice, and I agreed when I read that, but looking back at the show, Peacemaker was the least developed and had the most room for growth, which made it interesting. I was very impressed with Peacemaker. It kept my interest all the way through. DC universe, but they limited the superpowers, so it was mostly story. Lots of violence, but it avoided the super-hero super-battle overload.

OK, I'll stop now. I'm probably too much of a critic.

Alright if we’re talking sci-fi, we gotta talk the expanse.

Also, I’m watching Peaky Blinders based on your guys’ recommendations. I already know I need to watch this show with subtitles based off the first minute. Not sure if it’s just me  I ain’t gonna understand jack without it

Am I the only one that hasn't been able to get into GOT House of Dragons? And I was a huge GOT fan. Something just off with the personality of the actors?

Campy comedy The Search for One-Eyed Jimmy on YouTube for free. Steve Buscemi, Samuel L. Jackson, John/Nick/Aida Torturro, Frank Vincent, Anne Meara, Sam Rockwell, Jennifer Beals, Michael Badalucco, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini (who’s very good), and pre-Sopranos “Paulie Walnuts”.

What have you learned?

That Romanians come from the West Balkans, and they are related to Albanians.

I liked Travelers but (spoiler alert, I'm going to be critical again)

It was an interesting premise, interesting conflict, but I lost interest at the start of the 3rd season. Big cliffhanger and
Spoiler:
"Lets just kill everyone so nobody knows our secret"
. This is my problem with a lot of shows. They start out good, then they don't know where to go.

The West Wing - one of my favorite shows. After season 3 . . . meh. Heroes, after season one bleh, and don't get me started on Marvel. That's one reason I liked Devs. It was one season and done. It was a complete story, some interesting twists and a solid conclusion, though I thought (small spoiler)
Spoiler:
The twist in episode 7 was much cooler than the conclusion in episode 8.
but it was still entertaining all the way through.

Monk, as an example, not a top notch show by any means, but it was consistent and when Monk had to go on the run (season 7 finally), that was pretty gripping. Probably the highlight of the series. Too many shows just fail to keep my interest, and again, I get it. Writing is hard.

Fringe was another show that was fun, but I felt it slid in quality in seasons 4 and 5. I couldn't even finish it.

I'm kind of enjoying the Mentalist. It's formulaic but it's entertaining, and I'm 4 seasons in and not bored yet. There's a consistent theme with a villain who we don't know much about, and I like the way it maintains the tension and the will the catch him vibe.

I know I'm repeating myself, so . . . sorry.

After Better Call Saul ended Bob Odenkirk had a nice series on AMC called Lucky Hank. Less intense, he played a college English professor at a small school.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

The Brothers Sun. Started off promising, sort of fell off as it went along. Still worth watching for Michelle Yeoh

That's why Law & Order kept going. It knows it's lane. You get your bing bong to start each episode which is a quick character study of a victim and a villain.

If you can find a movie she did called Wing Chun, her footwork in the tofu scene is mind blowing. She was athletic as hell.
