Message board legend. Not the hero we deserved, but the one we needed.

Would've been hilarious if it was:

Shams: Woj retires

But seriously, he was synonymous with any and all NBA news right up in the Yahoo front page...for those older people who started with Yahoo. He then transitioned to a new era with ESPN and social media, still dropping bombs. He will be missed.

He worked insanely hard to serve a totally worthless function of the twitter age (reporting news like 4 minutes before we all would've heard anyway), kinda cool that he decided to cash in on his huge recent paychecks and go for what's probably a much calmer and more fulfilling situation.

Pioneered journalistic favors and biased coverage in return for scoops or as punishment for lack of info, but was quite entertaining as a result.

he was damn good with his job but I think he had a negative impact on the league and didn't add much value from my end.

he never broke stories that wouldnt have seen daylight without him. it's not like he uncovered a player or exposed a bad guy. his stuff was just favors in return to writing positive spin/trust not to leak negative stuff. like the opposite you want in a journalist.

I personally thought what he did was awful. Just compounding to the never ending news cycle we are in. As someone else mentioned, he would use personal favors to write positive stories and the opposite to trash opponents.

His podcast sucked also. I won't miss the guy at all. Glad he's gone

I know people hated spoilers, I just not online when its happening, but I got to say, for how I respected WOJ, his master performance this year in the second round draft, where he lectured and educated us all how nepotism is fine with Bron Jr., definitely tainted my opinion of him. Dude sold out, but hopefully, he made as much as he worth and more, and can enjoy retirement, I imagine his work was insane, guy had to carry multiple cell phones and be on them constantly, I do not envy that job.
