Dijonai Carrington poking Caitlin Clark in the eye
[x][/x]
This went UNCALLED during the game. Look at the direction of her HAND and where it's going. This is CRIMINAL behavior. If she poked her eyes out Caitlin's career is over.

thats the clip i thought i posted in the other thread. That angle changes the discussion a bit but you still cant say it was intentional.
it does raise a question as to whether or not there is a nail length restriction. hadnt thought of that until now.

That play struck me then and does now as unintentional. That said, Carrington had a lot of nerve telling the referees "on anybody else that would be a foul" after Clark knocked out her contact lens in a similar play in the 2nd half. I mean, really? Come on now.

Re: Dijonai Carrington poking Caitlin Clark in the eye
It was an unintentional eye poke. Dijonai also got her contact knocked out by CC and no one cared.
This is playoff basketball. If people cannot handle seeing Caitlin Clark being involved in it, I would suggest turning away from the TV every time she gets the ball and start praying because she's probably gonna get knocked on her ass at some point too. Otherwise, play on.
Ask yourself this: if this was the NBA and someone got poked in the eye inadvertently, would it invoke the same response?
I doubt it.

Yeah dude just say you're upset that CC got accidentally poked in the eye by the Black woman and be done with it. You're not fooling anyone with this dog whistle post.
Grow up.

I don’t know if they're going to legislate nail length now just because one player got accidentally poked in the eye. I remember RIP Hamilton had long nails and used to use it as a weapon (he would dig his nails into guys arms and scratch them) and nothing ever happened.
Me personally, no one should have long nails playing basketball, I dunno how anyone can shoot with their nails extended past a certain length.

You guys are BLIND. How does a hand attempting to BLOCK a pass or shot goes from FLAT to 90 degrees as it goes towards the opponent? Look at the downward hand angle directly going towards Caitlin's eyes. That's an UNNATURAL hand position as you try to SWIPE a ball. You don't swipe a ball by BENDING YOUR HAND AT THE WRIST!

How bout...watch it in real time, full speed instead of a slow motion, started from a convenient point in a clip that's designed with a specific, tired agenda?
Clearly a basketball player swatting to deflect a pass, and yes, gravity, and momentum will make a hand already moving in one direction continue to move downward.

Also the way she was trying to block it was as if she was trying to swat a fly in the air. Her wrist bent at the peak and her hand tried to swat the ball.

It's aggravating. As soon as ESPN replayed the play over and over again I knew it would illicit this kind of crap. I also have a strong feeling that if this was Mabrey instead of Carrington, this would be a non issue. We know why culture warriors are upset.

This is a literal basketball play dude. Have you never seen the sport played before?
Dijonai Carrington is not trying to gouge Caitlin's eyes out. I've watched these two go head to head multiple times this season. It's fierce competition, but what it hasn't been is dirty or someone trying to cause violent harm to the other.
CC knocked Dijonai's contact lens out. Do you care about that too, or does that not suit your agenda?
This literally prove Dijonai's point. The same thing happened and no one cared. You calling her a criminal is all I need to know about where your intent is.

I can tell you didn't pass physics in high school. Oh wait, you didn't even take it did you. (I did IB physics - that's college level). The heavier denser part with less air resistance falls faster. In this case it's the ARM not the hand that's flat, lighter, facing downards providing MORE air resistance!
I've watched thousands of basketball games. I've never seen ANYONE's hand turns 90 degrees from attempting to block a pass or a shot.
Try turning your hand 90 degrees from your arm. Heck it takes some effort for the hand to be at 90 degrees from the arm. THIS IS UNNATURAL.

Look at this egregious, intentional eye-poking crime that was swept under the rug…and it was a white player assaulting King James!!! Where was the outrage!?!?
Look! His wrist ends up bending 90 degrees!!

Literally the first eye poking video I randomly found of Lebron, the “offending” guy’s wrist turns 90 degrees as the poke happens. Amazing.
Your obsession with the victimization of Clark is what’s unnatural.

Re: Dijonai Carrington poking Caitlin Clark in the eye
When that Oakland A's broadcaster caught a lot of heat by botching the pronunciation of "Negro League Museum," I had a go at saying "Negro League Museum" quickly and carelessly. It came out the same way. I have a friend who lives in Kansas City, and he told me that there they've learned to say "Negro League Museum" slowly and carefully.
So I decided to imitate a shot-blocking motion (I haven't been able to play ball since 2017). Lo and behold, and the end at the of it my hand looked like Dijonai's. It just naturally started to close.

I played organized and street hoops for years. Your wrist naturally flicks downward on a shot block attempt.
I mean, this is common every day stuff. It's unfortunate that CC got poked in the eye, i know that hurt like hell, but it was an accident.
Trying to paint Dijonai as some criminal that tried to gouge out her eyes is weird as hell.
I feel bad for Dijonai. She can't even play basketball without weirdos trying to incite a race war after every Fever/Sun match up. And when she complains about the abuse and threats she receives because of it, no one cares.

This is probably the worst thing about WNBA right now. i don't engage with them, but half the timeline is filled with race wars.
You have whites, blacks, lesbians all fighting this culture war in the fandom online. Almost anything that happens in the league race is brought up on social media and it completely takes away from the game.
- Fans were upset that MVP award was announced really early yesterday and I saw comments like "let's pay attention to when they announce the other awards for that girl" (insinuating ROY would be announced at a more convenient time for Clark v Wilson)
- An avid WNBA fan, season ticket holder, and threads poster made a comment as to why A'ja Wilson isn't more of a household name? "racism". A'ja fans were also upset Nike didn't announce anything on their website for Wilsons unanimous MVP "racism".
- Why is Fever game on ABC and everything else on ESPN? racism.
