ive seen some comps of aaron gordon, but he's much more similar to michael porter or harrison barnes or rudy gay. 3d hybrid forwards who rarely dribble to create.

Yeah the MPJ comp seems totally fitting from what we've seen to date.

If Big Tiddy can be Marvin Williams on crack, he will have a lot of value in today's NBA

Aaron Gordon is a great comp. That's exactly what kind of player he is. He doesn't have the ball handling to be a true wing. He's a athletic stretch pf who just hustles and plays hard.
His 3 ball is what will get him playing time sooner than later. I was confused when people said he would take 3 years to play with the big boy roster. This kid is already polished and pro ready. He just has to play minutes and learn the game on the defensive end.

Yeah I still don't really see the Aaron Gordon comparison other than similar body types. Gordon was never much of a three-point shooter still isn't. And Gordon was infinitely more explosive of an athlete. I also like the Marvin Williams comparison.

Yeah he’s oddly got no hops it’s pretty weird. Strong and very big but doesn’t get up explosively

It's amazing to watch. He is literally growing from game to game. Last night, there were two dribble sequences where he quickly recognized pressure and passed the ball rather than attempting to dribble through it as he has the past few games.

So glad to see Salaun growing and applying this early on. My earlier concerns and rants about not taking a center there melt away when this kid shows such potential. He’s got a lot to work on but his work ethic will help him achieve those goals.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Crazy thing is he already looks physically taller and bigger than draft day - he may eventually become the center you wanted

It's hilarious that he's already shown more in one preseason than Kai the clown did in 3 years.

That might be my least favorite draft pick in Hornets history. The hype over him was absolutely baffling. The fact that they were apparently strongly considering him at 11 and traded back into the 1st round to get him is wild.
The Bouknight pick might look worse in hindsight. I thought he was probably not going to pan out as a prospect at the time they drafted him, but I don't think anyone really knew at that point that the off-court stuff with him was so bad that he basically had zero chance of working out. He clearly had quite a bit more basketball talent than Kai, even if he was still overrated.

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
I'll say one thing, if he hits it will be a pretty impressive hit for the front office. He is a prospect that takes quite a bit of projection and foresight to evaluate and the front office seemed to be locked in on him as one of their top guys throughout the process.
I missed the preseason games, but its hard not to be encouraged by the highlights. I thought in the summer league he made quick decisions with the ball and seemed to generally have pretty good awareness for someone so young. It seemed like his main issue was that his body often seemed awkward and not quite caught up with his brain when actually trying to execute a lot of things. Just seeing him execute some of this stuff better so soon is nice.

Yeah one was an undersized, immature jackass and just a generally sh*tty, surly person, with highly overrated handles and subpar shooting skills.
The other was genuinely bat sh*t crazy and as a sophomore at Texas showed nothing coming off the bench. His only skills were being tall and being able to jump high.
Neither were going to work out ever, even if you resimulated their NBA "careers" 100 times.
Both were getting schooled as third year vets in summer league. It was embarrassing.

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
meh, i'll never hate swinging for the fences on an athlete of that caliber. you just have to have a development staff you can trust to teach them how to play. and firing JB for Steve Clifford was the absolute worst thing you can do for someone like that. Kai was obviously a complete **** moron and his failure to make it to year 3 with us is his own fault, but this franchise did him no favors whatsoever, not to mention us keeping on pretending he was a PF and sticking him next to Nick Richards, forcing him to the perimeter to jack threes he had no business taking.
From an upside standpoint, Kai at #19 was a way better move than punting Monk out the door to draft Bouknight at #11 and then hand $97M to Rozier, then ensuring that Bouknight would never get an opportunity to play more than 20mpg at any point in the next several years without being redundant as ****.

If he is going to hit shots like this, maybe I was wrong and he will be seeing some rotation minutes.
