Jesus... but it's true.

Spoiler:
I would accept votes for Spree or Houston but respectfully disagree.

I stopped hating Randle when Brunson took over. I actually wanted him extended. That said, I'm here for the Melo torture.

Just to add to the questions here:

What if they bench Randle? They probably are going to have to bench one of him or Gobert...

This borders on fanfiction. They're not benching those guys.

I read a few things recently highlighting a bigger role for Reid and suggesting that with KAT out he has a chance to be an all-star. That won't happen unless Gobert or Randle takes the back seat.

I got into soccer as my backup sport to basketball and enjoy it a lot

what league?

are you waking up at 4am to root for some relegated team from Nice France?

tbh, ive wanted to get into euroleague but I could never do it. time management and all it just seems like too much work.

Mostly the european leagues, Serie A, Premier League are my favorites but all the countries have their own, there’s the Champions League, you have the national teams, the UEFA Nations League is on right now, you have the European Championships and the World Cup every 4 years alternating every 2 years and their qualifiers are always going on. Something is being played somewhere constantly

Since they’re around 6 hours ahead of us (eastern time at least) the games either come on reasonable times in the morning or afternoon here at the latest 3pm so if I’m home and not doing anything else I can throw one on. Doesn’t even interfere with basketball

Main thing that sucks about it is you can’t just buy one streaming service that has everything so it often takes crappy streams. But I’m used to it

I have an attention issue and I think the aspect of the sport I came to appreciate was that other than halftime there aren’t any commercial breaks and you can really just lock in and zone out for a good chunk of time

I can’t stand to watch nfl anymore because there are too many commercial breaks. I used to have to watch the red zone channel to watch it at all, because it was constant action. Or follow fantasy football or something to keep me engaged

NBA is the perfect amount of action and the breaks don’t kill me because I can come on here and BS during them

Well, they traded a pile of firsts for Gobert so they aren’t benching him obviously

They could bench Randle and start Naz Reid but it would really seem a bit weird to trade an established All Star in Towns for another established all star in Randle just to bench him for a guy who you hope has a chance to be an all star. But hey, what do I know? Maybe they will.

It’s not my problem, i’m just glad we have towns

Being a traffic cone on defense, refusing to pass until 2 seconds were left on the shot clock, disappearing in the playoffs, temper tantrums, pouting, bipolar attitude, etc. all led to Randle's poor reputation among fans. He started out a fan favorite, but the day he was out of control and ready to fight IQ was the last straw for me.

I'll also add that, at least on this board, the relentless posts from a specific poster who regularly mocked everyone that Julius was here "permanently" and would NEVER be traded almost certainly added to the celebration once he was gone. IMO much of the Julius hate we saw here after the trade was geared more toward the poster than the player.

Understood he was a frustrating player. He could be erratic, dramatic, and enigmatic. He could also be emphatic, automatic, and acrobatic. He stunk against the Hawks but the Knicks also had no business being a 4th seed that year and suddenly the Knicks were a destination again. He would lag on D but he also completely changed his physique over a summer to put forth an all NBA season and the Knicks were once again known for conditioning.

I think better times are ahead but when he came here we were a laughing stock. Everyone else turned us down. Without Randle there might not have been a Brunson and there wouldn't be a Towns. He might just have been the hero we deserved.

Randle came here because nobody else would pay 20m per for bench player.
Knicks were good for Randle as well.
NY owe him nothing.
And showed his true color when we needed him the most.

Very well said, Cap.

I recall when he came here a few posters wrote he should be a point forward like Lebron. He is an immensely talented player but he isn't James.

When we got killed in the playoffs in Atlanta, it seemed at times their whole D collapsed on him, and he rarely was able to make the pass to a shooter. Clearly, that wasn't something we'd done a lot of during the season because we had a lack of really good shooters - pretty much we had Derrick Rose. Reggie Bullock was next. The starters included RJ, Elfryd Payton, and Nerlens Noel. So yeah, we overachieved in the regular season and got exposed in the playoffs. It wasn't Julius' fault we lost, but he got most of the blame.

Combine this with what you said about his nature, and it's easy to see how starving Knicks fans blamed him and wanted more. Hell, we've even had folks complaining about OG recently LOL. We have all suffered from having bad teams for so long we lost perspective on some players. I think we're going to do better with Towns, but yeah, we got here in significant part on the strong back of Julius Randle.

I’m glad he’s gone and I think Randle himself is a huge reason why he’s not here anymore, but he’s also not someone to really still get pissed at. He had some good highs, some really bad lows, but it’s time to move on. Think he should get cheers and appreciation when he returns.

At the same time, I don’t think he should be turned into a martyr too. We should not talk about how he’s unappreciated. The Knicks FO in particular protected him and treated him very well. Knicks RealGM as a whole was in a favor or extending him with a max contract only a month ago…if that’s not appreciation, then I don’t know what is. He got a lot of special treatment imo. He’ll probably still have a place with the franchise after retirement if I’m guessing correctly.

all those leagues are too much. too many leagues too much relagation too much player movement. all of it is too much. but the game itself is beautiful and fun to watch. and honestly I could probably get over all the leagues. but my main problem with it is picking a team. if I have no rooting interest whatsoever in a league it's hard to actually care about it. how am I suppose to care about a team from liverpool or a team named the hotspurs. it's just hard. I do get heavily involved when the world cup rolls in. but my rooting interest in that is usually rooting against teams.

so how did you pick a team. or do you just have a handful of players you root for - which would seam a strange in a game that heavily requires teamwork.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/41726118/all-little-moves-knicks-made-get-karl-anthony-towns-new-york

with all the groundwork required to execute this trade by the skin of our teeth, we clearly planned to bring kat here a long time ago. which adds up with the persistent rumors that he was our big fish trade all along

Return to New York Knicks
