The 'don't overreact to preseason' protocol applies for the Micic situation. If he's out there doing his Diaw impersonation in three weeks it will be a different story.

I have a suspicion Charles Lee is letting him play his way into shape with these preseason minutes and has addressed the poor performance privately. He's been all about commitment and accountability thus far so I doubt Micic gets a pass.

I think Euro's actually take the off the season OFF. It may not be the right thing to do but it is what it is. Micic is out of shape and probably shaking off the dog. He should be fine in a month. The rest of team looks pretty darn good. We should be a very competitive team most nights.

Makes me wonder if he wanted to go join Jokic in Denver and isn't in a good spot hanging around here still

I don't understand how he could think that compared to last year. We have something to play for now and he can play a key role in that.

He's not playing more for Denver than he would for us.

Denver is a title contender with his buddy who happens to be the best player in the world. I can certainly see why he'd have preferred the rumors to have come to fruition.

*All of the above is complete spitballing conjecture*

I mean I can see why he'd want to be there, more just wondering why he'd be less motivated to play with us now than he was last year.

the the diaw mentality of, i'll only play hard if its for my country or a shot at a trophy. not saying thats whats going on with micic, but he wouldnt be the first euro to have that mentality here.
most likely, he's out of shape, learning new offense, and giving 50 percent in glorified practice
but lee might not be that patient if he plays like that in 2 weeks.
not worried yet

Yeah I’m more worried if he’s not buying into the culture, they might ditch him.

I really like Micic, but if he can't buy into this culture that's his problem. The vibes seem great around this team ever since the summer. Unless it's secretly a joyless death march every day in practice it seems like a big improvement over last year.

Our two weakest areas are the same two weakest areas we've had for an eternity, PG depth and C depth. For the love of all that is holy, can we please start to take those positions more seriously? Micic might be awful this year if he looks anything like he has so far in preseason and everyone here knows my thoughts on Nick as C.

I'd honestly consider Mann as PG2 even though he's scoring focused and I wouldn't be surprised to see Taj take a lot of Nick's mins once Lee gets fed up with his low basketball IQ play.

Jalen McDaniels waived. Should we look at giving him a two-way or vet min one year? He played a lot better for us so maybe he could come back to rejuvenate his career.

i would, he was a relative success story considering what most 52nd picks look like

I would not mind giving him another shot especially since our front court depth is trash

Agreed. But if we were to get an injury or two, McD would be a great temporary replacement.

Jalen is more of a Grant replacement than Salaun, or a filler at forward for when we want to (or are forced by injury) to play small with Grant or Bridges at C.
