a lot of things have felt like active sabotage more than anything else. can you imagine telling someone in May 2022 coming off a 43-39 season that two years later, we would have drafted our center of the future, and drafted someone of Miller's caliber in back-to-back drafts, but that we went 21-61 in 2024 with Steve Clifford as our head coach?

^Kinda moves like a super-sized Jeremy Lamb there.
I know it's only preseason but have to admit I never expected to see this kind of improvement so soon.

It is almost like a 6-9 forward with a 7-2 wingspan doesn't need to have a fully polished offensive bag at 19 years old to be an NBA player. Wild.

This sentence is absolutely wild read lol.
So he needs to be Gerald Wallace, mixed with Jaylen Brown and a bit of Giannis or he is a role player....
Let me get this straight, he needs to be an All-star mixed with a Finals MVP but wait there is more... he also needs to have a bit of an 8 time All-NBA guy as well..... or he is role player.
I legit am laughing out loud at this.

Yes, if he ever becomes a rotational player lol... but you are really high on him.
I was crazy to cut out only part of your post.

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
Obviously the 3pt shot changes his trajectory for the better, so great news there.
But the post you cut out of context was about his ceiling as a player being limited without dribble or playmaking. Then I gave examples of where players with those deficiencies early in careers excelled by being elite in areas like hustle, defense, rim pressure, fta etc...
But you seemed to have completely missed that point.
The 3pt shot changes his archetype realistc high comp to more of a Michael porter Jr for now
Opinions evolve with the player

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
I'll start by saying even with what I've seen in preseason so far, I still would've taken Clingan instead and that is... well because of what I've seen in pre-season from Nick and Mark being predictably hurt.
That said, Tidjane's 3pt shot will get him playing time if he can sustain even some of this but Fats is 100% right in that his handles/playmaking are nowhere near ready. I could see him spending a big portion of the season in GBO but since our frontcourt depth is so bad, he will probably get rotational mins as long as he can stretch the floor with that 3pt shot.

If our frontcourt depth is so bad then why does he need to be in GBO?
You get better by playing with the big boys. We don't have pressure to make the playoffs. Why not get this kid on the floor right away. He can learn from his mistakes in the big boy league. Yeah his handles are poor, but he's a 4/5 at the NBA level. We don't need him to handle with Melo/Miller on the court.
I would play Salaun from day 1. If he's that bad to start the season then that's when we can send him to GBO.

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
You have to trust your coaches and development staff on gbo. Let him get minutes and learn nba defense and work on his game.
He'll be shuffled back and forth so that he gets as much time in practice with hornets.
Keep him with main team until mid Nov. Then maybe 6 weeks mostly with gboro and have him back in Jan. Like we did with Mark.
Obviously if Cody and Green are hurt then he's in rotation or if miles or Grant get hurt.
As for early revionist drafting... it's clear to see why jpete and staff fell in love. He has rare size shooting hustle profile. I do not blame them at all for sticking at 6 and taking him.
Clingan is really the only "what if" for me, purely because of the giant hole we have at center unless Mark is healthy. But we could have addressed center in other ways too and we didn't.
There will be no "we should taken..." in regards to this draft. I have zero issues. If buz or Dillingham or edey turn out to be better, so be it. Clingan is the only one who I would debate taking over ts.

I... didn't say he should be in GBO just I could see him spending a lot of time there.

Re: Big Tiddy: The Tidjane Salaun Thread
if all he ever is is a 6'9 3point spammer that can grab some boards then the worst case scenario is we reset the clock on a younger PJ. I think he's already avoided complete bust possibility. that would have been if he came in and was a 25% shooter from NBA distance or something. I think thats pretty clearly not the case, though I guess his percentages will definitely drop from preseason if he's only playing garbage time or emergency injury minutes

TS needs to not be a defensive liability in order to be compared to PJ. the bigger concern is that he's so inexperienced that he's a more athletic but more lost version of Davis Bertans
