Stewie didn't have it and was gassed by the 4th. the coach has to adjust. We waited way too late to start feeding Jones.

It was a foul on Sabrina. I would want that same call if it was the other way.

It's not surprising is the worst part. Brondello is clueless. She's watching a completely different game.

What an amazing way to finish a huge season for the W. If you're not loving this than I can only assume you just don't really like basketball. On to the Big Apple. The biggest stage for the biggest stage. One way or another, it ends on Sunday.

Right? This is just way more fun to watch to me.

I don't want to denigrate the NBA because there are guys who play really hard. But I feel like the WNBA just has more intense competition.

In the short time i've been watching the WNBA I don't think i've seen Jonquel miss that fadeaway

BTW. Can someone please tell Leonie Fiebich that NY doesn't need a 4th superstar and that she can chill and miss some shots every once in a while.

Thanks.

Yeah honestly I'm out on Coach Sandy. She gives me Steve Nash flashbacks at times where she see that things are going to sh*t and doesn't do anything to adjust.

Like call time out and run a set. Plus, it was obvious that Stewie was exhausted. We had two timeouts left

Can’t believe the refs decided a Finals game by calling a foul on a box out lol

What a disappointing finish to an otherwise great game. W refs are terrible.

Entire team was gassed down the stretch. At least Brondello saved two timeouts by the end of regulation.

Two timeouts and a reset down the stretch. She didn't call a timeout until after the Lynx hit the free throws with 2 seconds left.

Stewie had no business tonight holding the ball long. Either setup Jonquel down low or let Sabrina run a set.

Final Game 3 minutes not withstanding, Sabrina also needs to pick up her perimeter shooting.

Interesting factoid about the 2024 season:

The Lynx have now “won” the season series over the Liberty. Currently it’s Min 5, NY 3 (despite NY playing 5 at home and Minny only 3).

I gotta say though, I’m picking Liberty in Game 7. They just look like they have found the match-up edge now, and a critical part of that is Leonie Fiebich.

This Liberty team was already the most talented team in history last year, but what Fiebich has now become is putting them in another level generally. She’s absolutely been the breakout of the playoffs for me.

Incidentally: I think I have to put Fiebich above Reese for 2nd place ROY because of the playoffs. I honestly questions if Reese can really ever play such a vital role to a championship-level team as Fiebich is doing.

I’ll also say that while I share a baffled feeling sometimes with Brondello seemingly passive in-game coaching, I’ve gotta tip my cap to her for bringing Leonie along and then elevating her into the starting lineup for the playoffs. I mean, it’s not like we’re talking about two of the same person type of players with she and Sloot. That means a shift in play emphasis away from what got them the top seed and benching a legend in favor of a rookie while coaching for a franchise that couldn’t be more “chip or bust”. It’s a recipe for getting yourself fired if it doesn’t work.

To make a move that bold, and to see it pay massive dividends? Wow. I think she knows what she’s doing.

So let me first say that a lot of folks are reacting this way, so forgive me if I’m just ridiculously off-base, but when I saw the replay, it looked like something definitely more than a box out. I saw hands reach back and grab in a way you do to make it look like you’re just boxing out - and in real time all I saw was a box out.

I frankly would have forgiven the refs for missing that, but once I saw it, I thought it needed to be called. This isn’t one of these situations where it’s just the players are going harder in the crunch, it was strategic rule violation.

I mean you definitely don't teach to reach behind the opponent when you box out like Sabrina did, but when you watched the replay did you also notice the Lynx player trying to go through Ionescu, who had inside position, to get to the ball?

I think you could call a double foul there if you think that's a good time to showcase a very strict and absolute enforcement of the rule book, but at the end of a finals game I'd rather see the players decide the game, especially since the foul didn't really seem to affect anything.

I really don’t get the complaints.

I looked up top at first in the highlight and thought awful call. I looked down low the next time and it was absolutely the right call.

It doesn’t matter if Sabrina was trying to box out. You can’t under cut and move someone who is in the act of shooting backwards and expect a no call. Unfortunate for Sabrina, but it’s simply one of those basketball plays where size wins.

Right. They were both awful.

Jonquel should have had 35 points if they'd gotten her the ball and we'd be celebrating a championship right now.
