 This game wasn’t lost because we didn’t match them on attempts. It was lost because they were awful defensively, and allowed them to get into a rhythm to the point where they couldn’t miss. Even the ones that were contested.

That’s not the reason we lost but it’s absolutely a problem. There was so many points during this game that they answered us making a lay up or 2 with an open 3. Someone said in the GT that the Celtics normally shoot 40% from 3 and at 61 attempts that’s still 24 made 3’s. If we shot 40% from 3 on our volume that’s only 12 made 3’s. That’s 72 points compared 36. We’d have to either create so many extra possession to make up that difference or shoot an insane number from 2.

I noticed this too! He finally started shooting normal again, started loading the ball in the pocket at the hip, rather than starting the shot above his head. It looked like the best shooting form he had so far, he was not shooting like that in the preseason, the shot finally came back

he'll stand for it when he already has 2 assists and generated multiple open 3s and layups for his teammates

Ummm Thibs didn't stand in his way much. He had already cemented the worst playoff performance ever against Atlanta and just kept going with 1 on 1 spin moves and stuff

That guy still thinks Randle was better than Brunson. That's all I gotta know.

How many 5s are contesting a Tatum three pointer from 23 feet? Is KP contesting there? Is Gobert contesting that? It’s a scheme issue not 100% on KAT. If Thibs is saying play the in between bc KAT contesting the three opens up the paint for an easy drive then it isn’t all on Kat.

What did I miss for Chuck to say Randle need to pass and not be James Harden Jr? Insane he actually said that.

Celts ate our heavy switching alive with super quick pinpoint passing to the open man. One open 3 after another.

We have a proven system that worked last year big time. If need be, we can go back to it if this heavy switching stuff continues to fail.

Just read a stat that said the Knicks ran 68 PnRs between Towns/Brunson in the preseason. No other teammate pair ran more than 42. Why the hell did we go away from this tonight? The picks Towns set tonight had no purpose, it felt like they were just going through the motions.

They also played the most minutes together of any lead guard / big in preseason. So the stat has an asterisk on it.

But sure, plenty to work on for those two as a 1-2 punch

So humor me for a second, if we had Hartenstein instead of Towns, and his man Horford is screening for Tatum from a foot behind the line, you believe that he’d be able to contest the shot and then defend the potential drive if Tatum decides to take him from 20 feet out to the rim? Be for real.

Just to put this all in perspective, in the first half MN vs LAL,
Divo shot 1/6 +/- -8
Randle scored 5 pts and 4 rebounds +/- -5
LA 63 MN 50

Do we need them tonight?

It's because the Celtics had Horford on Hart and Jrue on Kat, so when you call for the pick from Kat you end up with Jrue on Brunson. They need Hart to hit threes at a rate he did in the playoffs or else teams can get funky with how they guard him, the Celtics in particular are built to contain big picks for guards.

Against other teams we'll be able to spam it, against them though there needs to be more shooting / scoring from Hart.
