Our GM already gave an interview about it. They dont need workouts for a guy they saw a lot in college playAND his agent, Mike Miller has a strong connection with the franchise. Basically Mike answered all the questions they wanted.

They knew they wanted Paolo. However it was up to Jabari to be able to convince them to change their minds.

So yeah... smokescreen. Thye were getting greedy. Wanted Paolo and an asset if they could.

Worthless workouts. A hour in an open gym is not that important when you can do your homework. Watch all the college and high school tapes. Send scouts to college to scope out personality and off court behavior.

Predeaft workout is like NCAA tournament. Good to have. But the 30 college games before matters way more.
People obviously dont know our FO. Whoever they dont work out, thats who were drafting. In all seriousness though, they were drafting PB, Jabari and Chet were the smokescreens.

LOL Exactly. As I remember, we didn't workout Suggs , Franz and Paolo.

Suggs because we didn't expect him to drop to us
Franz because we were the "secret" team that made a promise to draft him above his expected spot
Paolo because... well he is PAolo

Not sure if i remember what i read though..

Watching the highlights and the style of play he has, Paolo looks much much more fluid then I thought originally. He really looks like a 2/3 guy that is tall and has a post game. As opposed to a 4 who is a bully ball post scorer.

I feel like that's actually good for the Magic because a Small Forward who is dynamic offensively is MUCH harder to get (less then what, 5 in the nba?), then a Powerforward who can score.

For instance, Julius Randle might be available , Siakam was last year, etc. But a Durant/Kawhi/Lebron/Luka is much more difficult to get.

That was weird because all the news said that he immediately stopped his workout with SAC and everyone knew he had a promise. No one ever conneceted him to us because officially we weremt one of the teams that worked him out

So we can expect 50 points against Indiana from Scottie too then right?

Or is that not convenient for your comparison?

Scottie is a different player, you will not see him taking so many shots
Scottie is on the same tier as Suggs, not Paolo. Suggs is a winning type player. He doesn't play for stats. Suggs plays way less minutes, but his per 36 mpg is much higher than Scottie.

I have been searching for the videos and can’t remember where he said it. If I find it, I’ll send it to you. I know one of them is a Magic video but I can’t seem to find that video. It’s the all access introducing Jalen and Franz.

I was referring more to your second sentence, but I think it's pretty darn obvious he's a legit #1 in the making. He's won enough this early on. He already took his formerly lotto team to the playoffs and nearly to the second round as the first option. If we define "not winning anything yet" as not winning a championship or whatever, then there's few players who fit the bill.

He said it on Bill Simmons' podcast I believe. Might have been Rusillo's. It was a national podcast either way.

Honestly, the fact that most people don't know who this dude is and it's nearly impossible to find this quote on the internet tells me that he doesn't have any more influence on the narrative than the average RealGM poster. Not really worth carrying a grudge for so long and starting threads with this obscure quote in the title, but you do you.

Come on Rob, lol. Suggs is basically a 3 and d guy in Orlando. Scottie is an All Star and first option in Tor. You put Suggs in Scottie's position he would fail.

Suggs would likely (also) fail in Barnes' position as a first option, but Barnes is already doing that himself, so...

Almost like being surrounded by rookies and G-Leaguers with your best scoring options out makes a difference, huh.
