Man AB is disappointing, he's not even looking at the rim, or any type of dribble drive.

They are not used to playing without Paolo. The lineups are different. The communication isn’t there. The defense is horrible. They are all playing roles they are not used to. It’s bad all around.

If anything happen to the Dallas starters being in a game up 32, that’s on them.

Weltman decided to go for KCP instead of someone like Tyus Jones. The FO made their decision in the direction of this team.
It's not the direction I would have gone but I'm sure Mose was on board with it.
For better or worse, the Magic showed a good amount of faith in Suggs and Black with what they decided to do with their cap space this summer.
But like... is that not what they should have done?
If you sign Tyus, Black's basically not playing. And certainly not playing on the basketball.
Is that ultimately what you want?

You expect the team to struggle after losing Paolo. But they’ve been flat embarrassing.

I’ve noticed he gets rattled and loses confidence - definitely part of the reason he didn’t play down the stretch last year. I hope he grows out of it. I can’t tell if it’s a maturity thing or just who he is
Suggs never lost confidence and kept shooting during all of his struggles

Dallas isn’t even great defensively. It’s just obvious how poor the roster construction truly is minus Paolo.
The Magic are like a money laundering operation at this point with how they pay players and who they give contracts to. They aren’t really trying to build a contender and shouldn’t be taken seriously. They aren’t beating the allegations.
I agree with the overall sentiment for a lot of these guys on the roster, but most of them would also play much closer to their contracts with competent PG play.

Paolo watching this thinking 'I'm going to need to put pressure on this FO if I'm going to stay here'
Paolo needs a real #2. We have all of our picks, Denver's pick, and a bunch of tradeable contracts.

You could say this about 3/4th of the league though? Maybe more?
Like if you remove the highest usage and top scoring player from any roster, that team is gonna be a lot worse.
The complimentary players don't have that driving force to play complimentary basketball off of.
Last year on East almost every single mid tear team lost it's best or second player for near half of a season.
Non of them looked like this.
I agree with notion of star player being Sun of Solar system but Magic offense was s*** even with Paolo and nothing was adressed nor solved in offseason.
And sorry but Carter and Isaac getting 5 years exstansions is just laughable. You can't even trade them now this season (at least not Carter, not sure about Isaac).
Two injury prone role players.
They constructed roster and salaries in fashion they actually belived this is "baby" contender that won't reach second apron. That is actually scary thought.

You can’t use Paolo’s injury as a scapegoat for the FO paying those guys and all of them looking like complete garbage.
Suggs has risen to the occasion. So your theory doesn’t hold water.
I just wouldn't go too nuts over how guys look after 6-7 games period.

I'm a magic fan above all else. I was vocal about wanting us to trade for Tyus last season.
He's not a star but he's solid rocking a line of 10ppg/4rpg/7apg on less than 1 TOpg. And shooting splits of 47/37/100
If AB couldn't win a spot over him, so be it. And you know I was on the record for asking for Tyus a TON last year.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

I think if they signed Tyrus, it mean that Jalen would be the 2. Black would still play the backup point guard like he’s doing now. I’d figure Tyrus would be the starting point guard.

Yeah so far it's definitely a concern, he seems to pout and put his head down. He's still young, but it's annoying that he lacks aggression.

Black probably would've been good 20 years ago but defensive players have limited impact today
