This is insane... 28/11/13.
Westbrook, MPJ, Gordon, etc. look good to go. Murray needs to raise his game several notches and they're a title threat. He wasn't all too hot vs Twolves last year, so Denver needs to make changes. West is hyper competitive with ANT, Luka, Shai, will be interesting to see what Jokic turns this into.

Westbrook has shot 6/10 and 10/15 the past two games. That won't be a regular performance from him, so "good to go" is probably a little aggressive.
Murray needs to stop being a flaming disaster, yes.

If Jokic can make Westbrook look like a competent basketball player again and take this Nuggets team to a top 4 seed with Murray looking like complete ass then it'll be hard to deny him a 4th MVP.

We'll see what happens when Westbrook stops shooting 60% from the field, lol.

Re: Nikola Jokic 24-25 Thread - 24 NBA MVP
God damn it. I questioned Jokic's judgement in specifically requesting Westbrook but you know what, unlike Harden and LeBron who requested him, he's actually developing synergy with him in the high post.
This is why Drexler and Jokic is one of my all-time dream pairings. The cut game with a guy as athletic as Drexler's, whose weakness is ball handling anyway, and Jokic's decision-making and versatility.
This could be one of those situations like older Rudy Gay on the Spurs cutting all the fat out of his game and being a really good role player.
Edit: I spoke too soon, he's still terrible, his BBallref is a mess from advanced stats to play by play.
Still had some synergy though.
Edit2: But good god, on the flip side. Murray's is actually worse. WTF happened to him?

forget the advanced stats, too noisy at this point.
in the games you can see both the good and the bad, and based on that you can be both optimistic and pessimistic about how this will work out.
I still think:
- better than in LA, because it's much easier to fit next to Jokic for any kind of player
- the guy is on a minimum replacing Reggie Jackson, you should reset your expectations

I would honestly say that- objectively- Jokic is having (perhaps) the best 4+ season span of- (at the very least)- anyone in the past 30 years.
On/Off, over a huge sample size, tells the objective truth about player value, IMHO:

And, I'd just also like to add that, the past 5 seasons, Jokic is:
-4th in points
-2nd in rebounds
-2nd in assists
The only player (that I can find) that was top 5 in pts, ast, rb for a 5 year span is Wilt Chamberlain himself, 1963-1964 through 1967-1968:
-1st in points
-1st in rebounds
-3rd in assists

Re: Nikola Jokic 24-25 Thread - 24 NBA MVP
This can't be understated especially when he's off the court, but I do think a backup a big that's a defensive plus would change the dynamics overnight.
It's been 5 seasons this year that the FO has failed to realize this. Along with added shooting just to bolster the depth
Don't know what assets the Nugs have but I have one player in mind...
I'm tired of what the Hawks are doing, it's clear to me Onyeka Ongongwu is better than Capela for their setup.
For the Nugs aim straight for him I reckon
Sheeeet Double O on the list would be awesome
Anyway yeah Jokic is basically Bron/Jordan levels now as the clear best player in comp.
I mean if he takes this team to 50+ wins its a no brainer MVP again.

This is easily the best he’s ever played, that’s the scary part. He’s reaching another level.

The way the bottom falls out whenever he sits is hugely concerning. He has to play 38 mins a game to give his team a 13 pp100 cushion only to see them lose by 30 pp100 when he sits. As great as he is, this isn’t a title contending team as it stands.

they need an offensive identity that makes sense as they are full of guys with not super high bball IQ.
this is what's lost when he's out, guys start running around like chickens, the turn the ball over and nothing happens.

Re: Nikola Jokic 24-25 Thread - 24 NBA MVP
Jamal Murray had a 12 PER, 47 TS% playoff run last year, and got more defense on his performance on this message board than any Prime Chris Paul, James Harden, or Joel Embiid playoff run I've ever seen.
Turns out he was blatantly out of shape. And currently still is, hurting his athleticism.
This is according to Nuggets beat reporters who see and watch every thing all year every year.

So now, after a horrific playoffs, Olympic summer and now start to the new NBA season, can these same defenders tell me the new narrative on his performance now? I saw guys breaking down his performance by the degree of bad and good his single quarters were in the the playoffs. Just insane stuff.

Re: Nikola Jokic 24-25 Thread - 24 NBA MVP
Denver look absolutely bad without him. But if they keep being defeated it will somehow be accounted on Jokic's MVP run.
On top of that even with Jokic they might be looking at another year without making the WCF.
And we know this team results willl be looked when evaluating Jokic in the future. I'm ready to make a case for him at least in the top 5 of all time. If he keeps this up 2/3 more years and I'm even ready for a GOAT case for Jokic. It sounds absolutely bananas, I never believed Jokic could be on top 10 ever (in 2020) and yet here we are. Dude as been beasting at all levels. And delusional Ewings can say they'd be as good as him or whatever but... no they wouldn't. Jokic keeps smashing everyone on everything. It's playmaking, it's scoring at brutal efficiency, it's rebounds, it's impact stats... and don't even come with the defense stuff. He's not Hakeem but we have enough data that points to him definitely being a positive defender.
