Re: PG: Knicks lose to Pacers - Thibs is a Terrorist
Thibs has spent his whole life studying basketball. It is not like he doesn't understand the game and other coaches do.
But some humans only make their decisions after a good night's sleep and are unable to calculate scenarios and adjustments in real time. Thibs makes his adjustments on a glacial pace. It can take him weeks or months to play a more suitable player on the roster.
I think Thibs is a very dedicated man, a true lifer and a committed celibate whose wife is a round orange ball and he has plenty of knowledge due to a lifetime in the business. He's dedicated, but he's no genius. His hoops IQ is of the game film kind and not the kind that sees into the moment in real time and understands what to do. That doesn't make him stupid, but he does lack a certain kind of intelligence that more gifted coaches possess. He's a grinder, not an innovator.
If Thibs were a military leader, he'd order his men to hold their ground while getting lit up by snipers.

Yeah...I wish I could justify Thibs short rotation but I can't...We cant beat NBA teams with 6 guys...We have no choice but to pay Tyler, Huk and even TJ...bring him up...Our guys are going to get injured again...

Both plus Kolek. I can’t believe that Thibs didn’t play him against McConnell

I think that he has made his position clear in the past. He’s always justified this simply by saying that “It’s the beginning of the season so it shouldn’t be an issue.”

And what kills me Clyde is even with a weak bench this is one of the most talented teams in the NBA. No way this team should be 4-5.

Thibs teams overachieve because he plays his top guys heavy minutes while other teams are managing minutes. The extra 3-5 minutes per game for the starters result in 3-5 extra regular season wins.
But Thibs doesn’t make in game adjustments, doesn’t have much offensive creativity, and the team runs out of gas come playoff time.

Thibs was **** awful. Guard the 3, dummy. I felt like he had the year but there's no way Rosas isn't already raising hell about his schemes. On offense, this was a game where all we had to do was feed the KAT and we went away from that again.
It also felt about as close to match fixing as I've seen. I was already pretty pissed and stopped watching after that play where KAT literally jumped away from the play and still got called. How do you play defense after that?

Fully agree - he's our Mark Jackson, set the culture, but needs to make way for a young up and coming coach to take us to the promised land

Agree that it should be Dan Hurley and his assistant that draws up those offensive plays.

I did see Towns commit a couple of his Doh! fouls he's known for, but overall he played real defense, was making his switches and was often on the perimeter doing his best when he got stuck on Halliburton.
What I don't want is the zebras targeting KAT as a defender when we're figuring out how to use him on defense. I don't want the refs messing with his mindset of committing to defense, because he's playing it and sometimes doing it well.
There were stretches in that game where they were letting guys get hacked and not calling the rougher play and then suddenly calling ticky tacky fouls. The inconsistency does piss me off and does raise the question of league or ref agendas.

when we lose a player thibs just gives more mintues to the starters...he is a good foundation builder but he is way out of his element coaching this style of basketball.

This is a new group of players. People forget that the Heat’s first season with LeBron-Wade-Bosh got off to a very slow start their first season together.
