In the nightmare scenario that is increasingly becoming more realistic, what would you guys consider fair value?
What're you looking to trade with Houston and get Amen Thompson and/or Jabari Smith on top of (worse) picks?
At that point, it's over so I'd probably look at whoever offers us the most picks with the highest upside. OKC seems like the team. Especially since Giannis would have to give approval even if there's no formal NTC.

There's a wealth of teams right now that are in the market for a starting or rotation caliber big (New Orleans, OKC, Orlando, Pacers, Lakers). If Horst can't find a workable deal for Bobby and/or Brook, then he's not trying hard enough. You can't convince me that the quality offers for both guys haven't been there the last couple seasons. Dude needs to stop being Danny Ainge and just pull the trigger on something, anything that nets us an asset and/or a better fitting piece.

Horst made a bet that the roster could largely stay the same with some additions via savvy minimum signings.
That bet sure is looking like a bad one.
Very curious what real trade scenarios we said no to this past offseason and last deadline.

Brook probably has some value. Highly protected first rounder, maybe, or a couple second rounders.
Portis has none. There is absolutely no trade market for Bobby. Teams have access to all the same stats and video we have that indicates he's a lineup killer.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
I guess I still don't really understand how we move Brook/Bobby while their value is at it's lowest and somehow bring in younger players who can play.
If that's the move then we should probably figure out if Livingston, Smith and Robbins can play a little bit.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
We paid Drew Gooden starter $ when he was nothing but negative in terms of on/off his whole career. Bobby's had seasons where he was positive & was early on here. A team w/ a big need, of which there are many, can talk themselves into that.
Journeymen like Bobby & Pat aren't naturally meant to stick w/ 1 team so long. For Bobby it's now been 5 yrs, & Pat 7. They need refreshes. Maybe a change of scenery helps them. Or they've just aged really poorly. But that's a gambit some would make.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Bobby could also be useful for a losing team to put up counting stats while they lose and provide some basic vet competency, if he can keep his temper in order on a losing team. But that would need to be a 3 team deal or that losing team has a player we could use but has longer salary (so the losing team is clearing money).

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Going back to it, I wonder if OKC would be potentially interested in Bobby for Caruso. Caruso seemingly lost his shooting this year (like most of our roster), but his dbpm is still crazy. He's only getting 20 mpg and is behind of litany of their own home grown guards/wings.
Last night they legit started a lineup where SGA was the tallest player. They won because of hot shooting, but got out rebounded by 18.

Theres no reason for them to trade Caruso. They want to keep him for the same reason we would want him. His shooting doesn't matter.

Hes a homer in that we know he loves Boston sports and hes not shy about it. I dont think it influences his general takes, though, and hes definitely not a hack when it comes to the nba. Hes more likely to fall in love w some other team's player and then be completely biased about that player since he put his stamp on him. Bill is about Bill more than hes about Boston sports i guess.

Jalen Williams is the only starting point for an OKC trade. I’m not even entertaining OKC as a potential trade partner if he’s not the 1st player offered in the deal. Then we can talk about a “mountain of picks” and fillers.
Bill Simmons is a moron and a total Boston dick rider. He’d love nothing more than to see Giannis go to a team that still won’t be able to compete in the East with Boston (Brooklyn) or still won’t be able to compete for a title out west (Houston) and that’s why he says that BS.
There’s 10 billion things I’d rather do than waste hours of my life listening to that ass clown talk about the NBA. He should get a job for the Boston Herald and leave it at that.
Asking for Williams is kind of like the George/SGA trade. But im also not sure why okc would do that. They can beat any other offer without adding him and he seems important to their title chances.
It also diminishes the pick pile we get from them. Optimally, if we trade Giannis, we want as many cracks at landing a true top 5-7 guy as possible.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
OKC is the easiest match. Detroit as a 3rd team.
Blow it up.
Jaylin Williams or Chet Holmgren (ever hurt) would be the centerpiece + trade filler and 6 billion picks.
I would also ask any trading team to acquire as many of our picks and swaps first.

Not getting one of those guys with OKC poo poo platter ESPECIALLY with Jon Hort drafting, we'd end up trading Giannis for guys like Rashad Vaugh, Marjon Beauchamp, DJ Wilson, etc. **** that ****.

Ok, cool. We're not getting that with OKC's pile of picks though. People really need to have a look at all the protections on those picks that they own:
https://fanspo.com/nba/teams/oklahoma-city-thunder/21/draft-picks
Like, a 2026 secondary pick swap with the Clippers, and a 2028 unprotected Dallas first (Luka won't even be 30 yet) can't be what you hinge your post-Giannis rebuild hopes on. All those other protected picks and 2nd's are trash. We'd just be unintentionally tanking for the Pelicans and Blazers for next 5-6 years while we're drafting a bunch of JAG prospects in the 20-30 range. What would be the point?

Our playoff hopes rest on 3 players. If one goes down the likes of Bobby or Brook won't make a difference . Trade them asap.

Clippers picks could be pretty juicy depending on what you think of them over the next 3 years, but yeah, the rest are not particularly great.

If you're looking for reasons to stay optimistic, this is probably where to start. We've indeed had a brutal schedule to open the season.
