First things first.

You're not wrong.

But we've seen All-NBA talents go to bad franchises and waste their prime years going nowhere.

See: Durant and Kyrie in Brooklyn, Giannis currently in Milwaukee, Booker for his first 5 years in Phoenix, KAT for his first 6 years in Minnesota, Embiid's entire tenure in Philadelphia, the debacle that is the LA Clippers.

Just having really good players isn't enough.

It takes:
  • a strong, focused front office.
  • Savvy salary cap manipulation.
  • An elite coaching staff.
  • Strong locker room and culture.
  • Effective player development program.

That's what (allegedly) Landry and Quin are trying to build.

If we can create a strong franchise then All-NBA talents will fight for the chance to play there.

See: Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors

Man, I'm so damn happy to have Larry Nance as part of this franchise.

He's been a great addition to the locker room.

Great trade to get DD and LN for Dej. Even without the two FRPs we win the trade

For years, I'd hoped we would use the G-League as a true minor league for development, player rehab.

I'm absolutely delighted to see us finally using that franchise as the resource it was always meant to be.

Kudos to Landry for building it up, Quin for selling it as an option to players and KB, BB and Vit for buying in.

We look and feel like a real pro organization right now.

It's still a useful option to have in the midst of a long season.

And I suspect Kobe may see more time there throughout the year.

With the SkyHawks leading their league in defense and having developped a defensive team identity, I have no problem with our players doing a bref rehab there...as long as they play D

Actually, they are just there to get the rust off and get back in game shape, but we can always hope that they bring back some of that D with them

They were there for practice. Since Hawks had a game last night,no practice and they leave today for a 4 game road trip with a back to back Sunday and Monday, so no practice time. They were recalled last night and sitting on the bench.

HMFFL wrote:Watch him play and look over his numbers.

I mean I'm sure we all have watched him play and the numbers are obviously there for a star PG. Again, when he has his most efficient night scoring wise, and put up an absurd number of assists, we've still lost games due to poor play throughout the roster. What a lot of Hawks don't want to admit, is that a lot of the "Hero" ball plays would go down if there was someone else stepping up to help lead the team or create opportunities.

HMFFL wrote:He's a sinkhole for any team unless they have a generational talent at the 5 and Trae would still be frustrating to play with.

Even if you don't like the way he plays, sinkhole is a bit absurd considering we have lacked a proper fit around Trae from the start. There's nothing in Trae's game that suggests he has to have a generational talent at the 5 in order to be successful. Clint on the playoff run wasn't a generational talent. I'm just not sure where that's coming from or why it's even a thing.

HMFFL wrote:We already know his preferred teams but Landry Fields can't move him because of the lack of value he has. Trae and Landry Fields are playing the waiting game together.

I highly doubt Trae lacks real value around the league. What's probably perceived as lacking in value, is more likely to be that Landry isn't just handing him over, and teams either can't afford him(LAL), are looking for a discount due to our lack of draft capital(NOP before Murray trade), or are betting on our downfall resulting in high FRP's(SAS). Regardless, this doesn't speak to how we're a better team without him.

HMFFL wrote:You want to see more Nance and OO? I love Nance, always have, he's the dawg every team needs, but he's a career role player.

Doesn't matter if Nance is a career role player. We need good role players anyway. We've lacked those since the Gallo, Bogi, and Lou Will run.

Trae Young shooting 38% from the field.

Nice job Atlanta fans supporting his field goal percentage.

Who supports it?
I think most have said he needs to up his efficiency :nonono: - no one is giving him a pass on it. Trae has typically started most seasons slow shooting the ball.

Just have to wait for this young, talented team to develop for a year or so, find a more versatile big than CC and Trae and the rest are going to move up the rankins

Doesn't matter if Trae is #1 or #2 at that time, he will be a key piece to the teams success

A question needs to be adressed before the deadline; are the Hawks going to make moves that benefit futute growth or not make those moves to try and win a few more games this season?

Our FRP to SAS is a sunk cost. Whatever the Spurs recieve has no bearing on the Hawks situation (unless we play the Spurs).

This Hawks team is barely ready to contend for the play-in. There is no reason to not prepare for the future. How to go about that is very debateable though.

Whatever the direction, I have no faith in ownership of the front office. Pick a direction, any direction and see it through.

If we actually had our own 2025 Draft picks, I'd probably be inclined to move Trae and start over...

I'm exhausted by this era.
