Re: AB the PG development thread
AB was compared to Cason Wallace a lot last season. I noticed he's shooting worse than AB this season while averaging 1.6 apg.
I really think players need 3 years. Especially when they come in young like AB. If he was born 2 weeks later, he would've been considered 19 last season. I think February 4th is the cut-off, and AB was born on January 20th.

Re: AB the PG development thread
I've stated it before, this is more or less a rookie season from him.
He was an NBA fringe 3&D guy last year. Yet this year, we seem to have made him the as high as the 2nd option for scoring depending who is on the floor. Last year, he would have been the 4th or 5th option depending on the lineup.
This is a huge level of trust and I expect him to continue to have ups and downs. The biggest surprise is his mental game. Right now when other teams seem to lack intensity at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th, he seems to strike and be the mastermind of 8-15 point swings.
His defensive intensity blends very well with KCP and Suggs. We have a nightmare backcourt defensively. We just need them to find a balance between exhausting themselves defensively, and playing the game of runs.

Re: AB the PG development thread
I mentioned it in the game thread and ill mention it here. Anybody see any reason why someone of AB caliber can't get up to 6 FTA per game?
Was just thinking how he seems to be able to create the contact when he wants, but doesn't seem to use it as a weapon. College him indicated he would be a Free Throw attempt monster stat, but we haven't seen that translated to the NBA. Do we have reasons?

Re: AB the PG development thread
His free throw rate is above .3, so he's getting fouled on over 30% of the field goal attempts, which is good. In college it was above .5, which is great.JoshuaPotter wrote:I mentioned it in the game thread and ill mention it here. Part of it is that he's taking more spot up threes, which are less likely to draw fouls.
Edit: Suggs is the 3rd option and averages 12.7 FGA per game. If final-form AB has a ftr above .5 and is the 3rd option getting 12.7 FGA per game he'll average 6+ free attempts per game.

I felt like last year the staff really didn't have time to find or let him find his right role. They treated him more like the last kid picked and told not to mess anything up! Seems like he & staff put in the work this offseason.

With all the guards on the roster, AB is still alternating roles from PG to SF. I think we need to turn Cole into an SF.JBSouthpaw wrote:JoshuaPotter wrote:I've stated it before, this is more or less a rookie season from him.

Pretty easy. You have to get to the rim to get fouled. He got problem getting to the rim = not many ft. When he gets to the rim, he still does a good job of making contact and getting to the line.

Put some respect on this kid's name. He's a winner. Point Guard of the now.

I should criticize aspects of his game before every game if he answers like this.

Damn, this was a late game for me and I didn't watch, but boxscore for AB looks great!
If he can continue like this, we'll have a thread for eating crows with me in it.

i love the D of our 3 guards - AB/Suggs/KCP, the pressure never drops, opponents Guards can never rest against us
AB s connection with JI is awesome
So far the AB/Suggs/KCP/Franz/JI lineup has been killing opposite teams

Forces Cole to play which we probably don't want right now. Need AB's playmaking in the second unit.
Suggs is only PG in name right now, Franz is basically our PG. It's atypical, but it's working.

Schroder leads the second unit with a strong hand. Cole tries to get Cam Thomas to pass it.

"touted as one of the best playmakers in his draft class". Someone kept reminding y'all of that particular scout.

Not enough analysis, homer post, toss out article, who does this author think he is, where do you find these guys, did an AI write this, usage rate isn't high enough, played against bums, coach didn't play him over a broomstick, you got to stop comparing him to Magic Johnson, sunk cost.
Keep those receipts @Eyriq.....and never forget!

I can be so insightful sometimes. Now lets see if the kid can make it consistent.
9 assists, 8 FTA, 3-5 from 3 ball. I would still like to see his FG % overall go up but you can't knock the kid. He definitely had a matchup advantage yesterday and feasted. He just has to work on refining it against the better teams we played early on in the losing streak when we had to resettle in after the Paolo injury.
