Re: Free Cole Anthony!
What Cole is supposed to provide is exactly what Orlando needs, a scoring guard off the bench. I’m not sure if it’s his confidence but he just hasn’t looked the same. He seems like a great dude & loved by everyone in the locker room, but Orlando at this point needs to package him & Wendell to try & get something of value.
When everyone is healthy, it’s clear he’s on the outside looking in on the rotation.

Re: Free Cole Anthony!
Exactly what is Coles trade value right now? I can't imagine it's all that great. He has an impactful game on the offensive end here and there. He's always a defensive liability.
His minutes have dropped year after year and he really only had 1 good 3 point shooting season. He used to be on a rookie scale contract. Now he's not. He used to have upside. Now we know the player he is.
We have a recent history of holding onto players beyond the point of trade value. Cole is the newest case. I would argue WCJ fits the bill as well.
I seriously doubt there's a trade to be made for either at this point in time. Looks like we will have 2 middle ground draft picks and some moveable players come next draft. If Schroeder is your guy just wait until the off-season to sign him. Basically the rest of his German national teammates are here in Orlando.
Coles play isn't going to change much. Jett and TDS and AB are the guys that we should be excited about seeing and they should all be focused and working there ***** off to do their parts to help win basketball games now.

I think its best for everyone ( Magic Cole Fans ) that he has a change of scenery.
Maybe a new team ( tanking preferably ) where he can get his mind right and play without pressure.

A significant part of some of the proposals is to pay a little extra in draft equity to INCLUDE Cole's deal as matching salary (versus an expiring like Harris). It's not like we'll be swimming in cap space next summer or for the foreseeable future. These fringe moves can be done but they have to have an eye towards the checkbook at the same time. Cole's deal is only one more year (guaranteed) but even $13m is a significant burden for a guy out of the rotation when we should be using scraps and salary slots for contributors.

When Anthony ends up at either the Knicks or Nets, and sooner or later he will, I expect him to be a better player. The Magic is not gifting him away.
If he is healthy, I think Bojan Bogdanović could be brought in to cover some of the role Ingles brought last year.
For example.

Cole in my humble opinion is in a slump and a change of scenario will likely set his mind straight.

Re: Free Cole Anthony!
Cole doesn't have much trade value. Maybe Hornets would take him on sentimental UNC connection. An idea to land something useful for him is naive, don't act like Lakers fans.
Magic actually don't have to trade him now until Franz and Suggs extensions kick in, maybe next draft we can send him away, it will probavly take a 2nd rounder from us to do it.

Re: Free Cole Anthony!
I'm pretty sure we'd only trade Cole to a situation that was good for him.
Management are usually pretty good like that for the well-liked players around here.

The Brooklyn Nets really need to start loosing games.
Anthony for Bojan Bogdanović works salary wise, but how does that equal Ls?
The Nets could really use to trade away Finney-Smith to be worse.
Anyhow: I guess a Magic trade here is Anthony, Harris and two Magic SRPs (2025 and 2027?) for Bogdanović and Milton. Orlando gains more depth and Brooklyn is markedly worse. Win/win.

Re: Free Cole Anthony!
I've been a long time Cole defender for the longest but I can't lie. He just doesn't have it. The injuries gave him a chance to show he still had it and he just doesn't. He's playing with alot of effort and is really trying defensively which I give him props for. But we need his offense more then anything. Drafting him I thought his floor was a guy that could come off the bench and give a spark. He's not even meeting his floor. At this point Cole should just be a locker room guy guy as I know the guys love him. I dont see a point in trading him as we'd get a 2nd rounder maybe. His value as a locker room guy is worth more then that.

Re: Free Cole Anthony!
I think the kindest, most respectful thing we can do is move him this year to a team where he'll have a better shot at resurrecting his career. He's dead in the water here, especially when F&P get healthy. I don't want to see him sit here next season and then just not get re-upped...or worse yet, get the Fultz treatment and get a raise
just in case he becomes good someday.
From the tankers (our most likely trade partners -not considering 3-ways)...
BRK sounds great because it's NYC, but the idea of him and Cam Thomas doesn't sound fruitful
I like POR because he'd clearly be a bench player behind Scoot (who needs Simons' minutes) and would have lots of opportunity to run the offense
WAS with Poole smells even worse than BRK, chemistry-wise
UTA has a ton of young guys that should get minutes ahead of Cole, so maybe not a great fit...Keyonte, the kid from USC, etc
NOLA might be interesting because they've got shooters but only Dejounte as a real PG (assuming CJ is out)
I wouldn't base my trade moves on what's best for(ahead of returned value), but I hope Cole lands in a good spot

LOL, Cole been bad for a long time now. Cmon the coach benched him. Proud of him tonight, but don't do this, not yet at least. Let's see if he can string together anything.

Bench AB! (He's done nothing to have earned Cole's minutes)
