A semi-bust backup inlcuded for salary purposes and a draftpick that may or may not become a rotational player: not sure I call that an "overpay".

If one looks at the many tables on draft expectations, here's one https://www.82games.com/nbadraftpicks.htm , a pick in the 20-25 range should become somewhere between "role player" and "deep bench".

As Brooklyn want to get worse, it would take a flier on the 10% chance that the pick would "be more".

For Orlando, there is no gosh-darn-way-in-heck the team should draft and keep two rookies. For me, if the worse of the two FRPs and Anthony leads to Finney-Smith, I would say it is Orlando that won the trade.

Eh.
Nobody including Weltman knows AB’s true upside enough to call him a semi-bust. Is it looking good? No, but we still don’t know.

And no, I’m not trading essentially two firsts for a guy that might be out of the league in two years. DFS has a bigger contract than Cole Anthony and doesn’t even really move the needle.

Tristan da Silva is putting up relatively similar numbers in his rookie season for 1/6 the cost. I’d rather they just stop **** around with Isaac’s minutes instead of making marginal lateral moves.

I guess he meant Cole Anthony not Anthony Black. At least I hope so.

I like DFS because he has relationship with mose and his contract matches Cole.
If we wanted to win this year I would definitely do Cole+ worst of our 2025 FRP for him (to win and to dump Cole s contact)

However we are not gonna win this season so I d rather to develop TDS and see if he can be our back up SF of the future

I think those 2 injury will tell us if TDS and Jett can be part of our future team

Suggs, AB
Kcp, Jett
Franz, TDS
PAOLO, JI, Moe
goga, wcj, Moe

Those are the 11 men I d like to keep until proven otherwise

Use the draft (trade on draft day) to go after a microwave 2 way scoring guard ( basically a better version of cole, or what we were hoping Cole would become)
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett
Franz, TDS, Panda
P5, JI, Panda, Moe
Wcj, Goga, Moe

Anthony has got to go: sorry.

As for Black, I think he is valuable enough that the only trade I could imagine is in some all-in / push trade.

Such a trade would look like Caldwell-Pope, Black, and two FRPs for De'Aaron Fox. But even that is a trade I personally don't like.

Black is safe this season. The Magic need his play.

Jett has been trash all season, lol. Besides Franz and Paolo, and maybe Moe all these guys have been trash offensively.

I don’t expect Jett to be our savior lol, but we are offensively challenged & he should be getting some run at this point. As good as this team is, we still have prospects that need to get a look at. Why not give Jett some backup minutes to be a scoring option off the bench alongside Mo?

Anyways, I’ve seen a request to trade for DFS lol. Can we at least trade for Cam Johnson? We need shooting & Finney isn’t going to do anything for us I don’t care how cool he is with the coach.

Jett will prove many silly people. Calling a 20 yrs player trash is just dumb

He looks better than Houstan and Cole. Played well against the Bucks.

Jett will be fine, he’ll always just be on a pedestal because of the players picked after him.

I don’t think anyone said he is trash, I think the words used was is he has been playing like trash for most of the season. Obviously at 20 there is chance he will get better.

Again, because he has been playing like trash all season. His stats look like this currently

512 TS%, .320 3PT% (he was supposed to be shooter), -1.5 OBPM, -2.0 Offensive EPM while also being a defensive liability -0.5 DOPM

This is not to say he can’t turn it around he is only 21, but he hasn’t been very good this season. To say otherwise would be a lie.

I go back and forth on Jett. I hated the pick at the time, but I can see what they saw in his shooting ability. He just isn't super athletic, but he is in way better shape this year and has shown maybe he can get to passable on defense.

They need to figure out how to unlock his shooting. I don't know if they need to run him off of screens a la Duncan Robinson or let him handle and create like a Jordan Clarkson type off of the bench, but it seems like there maybe could be something there. Needs minutes, would really prefer for them to just play Jett anytime it would be Gary or Cole. Guy has 300 minutes in his career.

I dont really read much into Howard's stats with such a small sample size and role. We really need to give him a bigger role, and it would be nice if Mosely starts to do that immediately. We need his scoring right now and we may need to raise his trade value before the trade deadline.

I think he has some tools to be a very good player. 6'8 not a bad athlete. Elite shooting potential. Not a bad ball handler/passer for his size. The defense has improved.

You would have thought a thread title " Franz injury" would have updates and stuff on Franz instead of Jetts season numbers and such...

lol true but Jett is someone who can potentially replace Franz’s minutes somewhat and also plays SF. I mean kinda makes sense haha I don’t see Franz coming back anytime soon they’ll hold him out like Paolo.

I'm with you on this. Opportunity.... Comfort..... Defined rolls help a player. In this game.... "You are the 5th best player on the court... Play solid defense.... Play in flow of the game.... If open let it fly"... And he looked great.

As part of the bench... Or depleted team.... Trying to be too much could mess things up mentally and overthinking can occur.

And after losing Franz ... I wouldn't expect the team to just keep on rolling. Same way with the Paolo loss... There is an adjustment period. Happy they get 4 days to help wright the ship!
