Re: Christmas Day 2024 Draft - Discussion
Question on Embiid.
MVP season only like Shaq, Tmac (god season, not MVP season), etc. or is there another season that works? Like Jokic, KG, etc.?
I’ve had the dude a whopping 1 draft.

I think it's a pretty great one actually.

I use 2021 (2nd in MVP) and never got any negative comments. I should have pulled the trigger on those two, got some PTSD from Embiid sometimes not getting all the love.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

His MVP season has warts given how the playoffs went that season.
I don't think it's worth the extra FGA.
I for sure would have taken Embiid/Pierce- no question about it the talent would have been too good to pass up. But I'm always cooler on Embiid. I had one team with him that reached the finals but in the end his playoff history was a major deciding factor in my loss in those finals.

Is Philly PJ a bargain on a level with a popular Suns reserve guard? Though backup point may be a little stickier to fill.
That version of Tucker is a nice bench piece. If you need start PJ Tucker, I’d only go Rockets (not available though).
Yeah I figured the same thing - I got Kobe and Dray - no PG needed really. Only Steph, Kyrie, Luka, Nash (I guess Kidd, Brunson, Jrue) as true legit killers. Kobe can and has defended them all.
Good luck have a PG guarding Kobe though
I still like your team either the most or near the top for sure. I will say Kidd can do a respectable job on Kobe, as can Jrue. The rest would be rough.
On the flip side, don't know that I love Kobe guarding most of those guys for the majority of the game. Steph and Nash stand out in particular with all of their movement around the court. Kobe can do a respectable job on Luka, Kidd, and Jrue, though. Not 100% sure either way about Kyrie and Brunson. Ultimately don't think it'd be enough of a detriment against your team to truly impact your success though, think there are bigger holes that other teams have to cover for.
And to be fair, I'm assuming most teams won't have their PG on Kobe, they'll have their best wing defender on Kobe and make adjustments from there. Like Snake would put KCP on Kobe and live with Brunson on Ray.
Kobe has the ability to guard them all, even Curry and Nash. It's just a question of how much the chasing takes out of him. I'd probably put my weakest defender on Boston Ray. Pick your poison.

21-22 or 20-21? He was second in MVP for both season. lol

Well right, he CAN guard them, I just think I wouldn't want him chasing them around all game, as you said.

Re: Christmas Day 2024 Draft - Discussion
I was worried about leaving my backcourt for the third round, but White still being available was a pleasant surprise.
Spent forever trying to find a cheap Sixers role player, but decided to bite the bullet with Maxey despite the cost. Not like there are that many high-end PGs still available anyway.

Yeah White was who I was going to take instead of Ray Ray with a better 6ers role player than Batum, but I think I like what I did. White’s perfect for any team!

I was extremely worried you would take him.

I almost took White with another Sixers role player not yet chosen.
Decided Bridges fit what I was doing better.
Had I gone in that direction you could have taken Bridges with a Nuggets point guard though.

Bridges was my backup plan, but I really wanted White to give my backcourt an additional playmaker.

Yeah that makes sense.

There isnt anyone worthy of FGA anymore or as a 5th starter, imo. lol

Yeah I really made sure my starting lineup was done after 3 picks in this one.
I passed on superstars I couldn’t get a starter with in the first 2 rounds so I wouldn’t feel pressure to get 2 starters in round 3.
I passed on both Nash and Tatum because I didn’t see another starter I really wanted to play with them.
I considered Nash with Aaron Gordon, but I correctly feared the center pool would be depleted by the time it got back to me.

I am OK with my 3rd and 4th pick as they arent "superstars" but they certainly help maximize Dirk.
I incorrectly assumed that people would hit an FGA pinch in the 3rd round and a good player that had to be paired with a not good player would drop to me.

Danny Green ends up in many people's teams. Horry end up in your team like 80% of the times. When you don't play, he's sometimes undrafted. There's another Spurs forward who is more recognized with you than Green though

I guess, but I think Danny Green is the best 3 and D guy while most other here prefer Shane Battier and certain spurs guy so I get Danny Green still quite a lot
