Pains me to say it, but it's true.

Wagner and Mobley have performed A LOT better than Scottie this season.

Availability is also the best ability, and Scottie continues to miss games.

Maybe 1 game sample size isn't big against the Nets, and probably the coaching staff can improve that, but I am unsure Barnes can pair other type of C effectively without the C shooting the ball well. Adding the need of an elite rim protector who has the ability to shoot and pass, you are pretty much looking for an All-Star C in order for him to be effective.

We shall see for another few games if Barnes can be dominating the paint with Olynyk and 3 of Boucher/Agbaji/Dick/Battle/Walter, but that is all shooter lineup that he got to put up efficient numbers.

No I’m saying the centre should be an elite rim protector OR be able to shoot and space the floor. Poeltl is neither, he can’t space the floor and he isn’t an elite rim protector.

I know, and since we are on the Barnes thread, I am assuming the style of the C should work with Barnes.
However, the stretch C isn't working well from the look of it.

Scottie has had a rough year with injuries. He also hasn’t played with the best players on the team. With that said, it’s becoming more and more clear what kind of player we have. It’s a player that has a limited offensive repertoire but can still impact the game as a passer and by exploiting mismatches. This draft will be an important one. Let’s get an elite talent in this draft.

He has been brutal for the last two games. Questionable decision making, tentative, no assertiveness, not fighting for rebounds.

He was fine before the last two games. I am pissed at the last two games. Let's see him get back to how he was playing before the ankle.

but would you actually take Mobley on this current Raptors team over Barnes....I don't know about that.

Even with his brutal play recently Barnes is still a higher impact player than anyone but Sengun and Wagner this season. His offense has been brutal so far and I expect that to get better which should bump him up more by season end. Hopefully no more injuries.

I don’t think Barnes is healthy so I’m not putting a lot of weight on these first few games since he’s come back. I honestly think he shouldn’t even be playing right now.

I would think it's better to label him as a potential #2 on a contender and the 3rd/4th best prospect in the 2021 draft than to label him as a franchise player and future face of the league.

In the former, the expectations aren't that high and ppl don't get disappointed if he doesn't become a superstar. If he does become a superstar, everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

In the latter, you're gonna see a lot of butthurt fans who either make excuses for him or hate on him if he doesn't meet expectations.

In terms of the last two games, he probably needs to get into rhythm. His overall shooting is improving at a slower rate than desired, but at least we're still seeing flashes and some growth.

If Scottie is actually still injured, why would they rush him back and not IQ, RJ and the countless others that are hurt? Seems like a foolish thing to do with your best player.

I know there are fans enjoying accumulating losses; players like Barnes/Barrett certainly aren't.

You are supposed to be the Franchise players but your team is 7-22 with 1-12 record on the road..
Players are impacted by this, they are not thinking "thankfully, a 6'9 18 year-old white kid from Maine that attended our same highschool in Montverde Academy is coming to save us"

His approach today was really worrying, being so disengaged. That ankle looked pretty good on those block-attempts

Conversely, if the Cavs had Scottie swapped in for Mobley, would they still be 25 and 4? I'd say no they wouldn't be as good.

No sane person would.

100%, Mobley is basically Bosh with better defense at this point. He is just extremely under-utilized. Mobley has MVP potential, He is just not asked to do much on his team currently, but the skillset is there and always has been.

I also think Scottie does better in Cleveland as well, Mobley and Scottie will both do well in High-Spacing/High-talent environments but Mobley is also better in Low-spacing/Low-talent environments.

How do the advanced stats rate him as a defensive player? Because he doesn't look anything special on that end either lmao.

The problem with this board is they have a problem with overhyping and then turning on players. If people were just realistic from the get go there wouldn’t be any issues. People have a problem identifying Barnes limitations. I said this many times I’ve seen this cycle over and over the same people that are his biggest fanboys turn into his biggest haters in a few years
