1. All NBA and ABA seasons from 1959-60 to 2023-24 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.
2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 4 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations. Any player chosen in a season that is pre-merger will have a multiplier of 0.85 applied against their actual fga, rounded to closest 0.1.
3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.
4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected, and 50% of his games in the season for the eligible franchise.
5. In each round you need to select a pair of players, subject to the restrictions below:
- One player of the pair should be an international* player, and his selected season can be any season between 1959-60 to 2023-24
- Other player of the pair should be an American player, and his selected season can be any season between 1999-00 to 2023-24
- You can have maximum of one player in the pair who was ever selected multiple times to a First All NBA / First All ABA team, or has been a regular season MVP at least once
- Both selected seasons for the players in the pair should be in the same franchise, which must be a franchise belonging to the Western Conference today (or preceding versions of the franchise, e.g. OKC/Seattle)
* An international player is determined by whether or not his Wikipedia infobox "nationality" field is set to any other nationality other than American. E.g. Nikola Jokic's infobox says "Serbian" which means international, also Hakeem Olajuwon's infobox says "Nigerian / American", which is also considered international. On the other hand, Kyrie Irving's nationality says "American" which means he's not considered international even though he was born in Australia. No nationality field in the infobox (e.g. for LeBron James) means the nationality is determined according to country of birth.
US territories like US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and others alike are considered American, e.g. Tim Duncan.
Notice "American" in the rules' phrasing means USA nationality, so countries like Canada, Brazil, etc. are also considered international.
The Wikipedia article's state at the time the draft started is the determining factor, 22 Dec 2024, 7:30 AM EDT.
For any borderline cases you might find, you can contact me directly and ask via PM/draft discussion thread.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBA.
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
9. Draft order will be completely randomized.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.
11. The winner of the draft will be determined by rankings, playoffs, or hybrid (depending on numbers). We'll incorporate AI votes when matchups are stuck.
