Pretty funny that Miami has been "failing" at team building for years to the tune of being top 2 in the NBA in playoff wins over the past 5 years, including being in 2 of the last 5 finals. What does that say about the efficacy of the rest of the NBA in team building?

Yup. This guy is just an insufferable Heat hater. If you've ever heard his show on Sirius NBA radio...you'd turn it off quickly. Takes shots at the Heat nonstop.....considers the whole organization to be a fluke based on weather, tax-free state, and LeBron.

I plan on never hearing it. Hopefully he keeps to radio, so he doesn't have to subject anyone's eyes to his attempts to dress himself in frankenstein combinations of mismatched patterns

I’m looking at the Spurs and Rockets having all the requirements to really get something done.

The Spurs aren't on the clock, Golden State is so maybe something comes from that. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if Butler isn't traded and Miami offers a much smaller extension so they can say they tried so don't be mad at us and ultimately want/let him walk to get them under the tax.

Why would the owner want to continue not only paying the tax on this team but also the repeater tax while teams who aren't in the tax are also getting 14-20 million dollar checks from the teams that are in the tax? I'd just keep in mind that it's highly expected the payroll for this team will be reduced a solid amount for the next couple years, even with the cap going up ~10% (12-16 mil) each year.

You keep saying this about the Spurs but yet Paul and Barnes are playing big minutes and Pop isn’t getting any younger. They have expendable pieces and picks to make a splashy move that still won’t hurt there future. Butler could also be a great influence on Stephon Castle’s game. Butler also cool with the Jones brothers so if he can’t play with Tyus on the Suns he can play with Tre on the Spurs.

Sure, to give Wemby a somewhat stable environment. Something that some forget is that CP3 aided in the development of SGA, while he was in OKC SGA we always heard locally (maybe some national media mentioned it) SGA was attached to the hip with him and the next season his efficiency jumped greatly, sure there's some normal development, but that's quite the jump losing a guy like CP3 to generate some looks for him.

I think Butler would work in SA but why would they rush the process of Wemby, he's the main player in SA and there's no question about it and they're letting him experiment with his game. I think SA makes their moves either this next summer if they think Wemby is ready or the one after that.

Welcome to the abyss. It'll be interesting to see who emerges from the other side after 2-3 seasons of this.

Butler plays a myriad of different roles very well. He would open the game even further for Wemby to thrive. You have a generational talent in Wemby. Why cap this year when the chance to make some serious noise is there now? Spurs have every resource to make this happen and still not affect the future one bit. Think Butler on the Spurs with Sochan, Vassell, Paul and Wemby is a formidable group.

Spurs have (4) 1st rd picks in 2025 and (2) 1st and (5) 2nd rd picks in 2026. Cmon man cash some of that in lol. Looking at the Spurs asset pool makes me want to cry about how bad our pick situation is.

At this point, the only thing that would make me happy would be to:

1) trade Jimmy for young pieces and a pick or two
2) tank the rest of the season and enter the Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Demin sweepstakes

When a youth movement is conducted its all about creating tradable assets. Keshad Johnson will be a tradable peice this summer. As of right now its about show casing and developing his value

Never tanking hard enough for a top pick unless we sit Bam and Herro for the rest of season. Losing the lottery also has nasty ramifications that bleed into 2028

Oh yeah, Miami seems to be really good at doing that, generating assets. I'm sure that's exactly what they're doing, why do that any other season?

I’m sorry but that young core is GARBAGE, there is no youth movement. I see a few guys with high level role player potential, the rest are average/low level borderline nba guys

I don’t think a spurs trade happens, I wouldn’t mind it but I just don’t think it does. Wemby is ready right now though.

Man, imagine if we tanked the finals year instead of making the play in and getting to the finals and ended up with Wemby. Would’ve been insane, I’d trade that magical run for Wemby in a heartbeat

Spurs trade logistically and financially makes more sense than the Warriors or Suns.

They may try to squeak in, I guess we’ll see because apparently Houston isn’t even interested so that eliminates our best avenue. Spurs would be 2nd for sure followed by the warriors.

I’ll put it out there early before it happens but Jimmy won’t fix the warriors, they’re just simply not very good and he’d be replacing a couple of the bright spots of their season. Draymond doesn’t have his same level of play anymore and Curry is teetering on the line of a major decline soon. I’ve watched quite a bit this year, something seems off about the top guys to where I don’t think they’ll be able to get it done when it matters most.
