I think Olynyk effectiveness will just keep dropping as he get older and while his archtype is still valuable we probably better off trying net someone younger.

Cam Johnson and nobody else. If we can't get Johnson i don't see a real addition to this team. So Sam will do nothing. Perhaps a waived veteran player at the end from the season.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
I lurk on the Raps forum in their game threads, and most of the posters there say Olynyk is washed and useless. They say he's considerably dropped off this year. Is that a true sentiment (I haven't watched the raps much this season) or is that more a product of having a terrible team around him ?
Cheers

Happy new year guys! Hope 2025 can bring some magic by turning Kizz into a Presti fan after our first title.

Happy new year to all too! Hope Presti does make a move with Dieng ; whatever that trade may be.
Team wise game is good but can still improve from now until playoffs.

He missed time with an injury. He's only played 9 games this year. He's shooting 45% from 3, best of his career, and his rebounding rate is the highest of his career. His usage is also the highest of his career, which is an indicator of how terrible that team is. There is nothing to suggest he has dropped off. He would make a great big man off the bench for OKC. Chet and Hartenstein should both be starting, if they are ever healthy together, and adding Olynyk gives OKC a good 3rd big man.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
Dort continues to shoot very well from three this year a little over 38% I hope he continues to shoot well. I think I recall someone on here saying his three % would drop back to low thirty’s hope not. But I just can’t figure out what happened to Ij this year or the team’s regression %. I still think we either need a big that can shoot some or a big wing that can shoot. Trade dieng and joe and a first or two and get it done, then we would be real contenders. But man this team is fun to watch we are on the cusp of something very good way to go Sam.

I don't think you can really read anything into what's happening in Toronto as they are conducting an 82-game tank. That said, I'm not giving anything of value to acquire Olynyk.

42x20 third quarter. the other day was 42x19 on second quarter
this offense needs to be more realiable, because this team can explode for spurts and build blowouts in a matter of minutes any given night.

Forget about "Jones". No power on the play. This draft was missed by Sam. Ok "Mitchell" saves the draft.

need to wait and see what will happen with Topic. I didn't want to draft a guy that was going to miss an entire season and I wanted to trade the pick but can't draw any conclusion yet.

I have no clue what will happen in Miami and I know it's an unpopular name but I would love to add Herro somehow. I just think he has the "it" factor when it comes to playoff basketball and his shooting skill is what we will need in the POs. Don't think a trade can work salary wise though.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
i'm a bit attached to this identity of hyper athletic and disruptive on defense roster build and i would think thrice before adding a player that don't fit the bill, and that stands for olynik, herro, markkanen...
they just got rid of a weak link in giddey, i don't see the point of risking adding another.
jimmy butler on a one-year rental is someone that would interest me, though. the fit is a bit dicey because those heat teams were always on the bottom end of pace ranking, while the thunder is one of the fastest teams in the league, but i do have a feel jdub would benefit the most of having a guy like him to relieve him of secondary ball handling duties.
i do have a feeling there's a chance of thunder repeating the dallas series and the bucks cup final in the playoffs and jdub failing to deliver scoring under pressure.
i have no idea how the rules are for trading anymore so

that's exactly why I mentioned a guy like Herro but it could be another guy for sure (Jimmy won't work salary wise and the fit is terrible). Agree about the defensive issues but with Chet/Hartenstein/Caruso we might be able to afford it and I'm also worried about guys like Joe or Cason not being able to find their shot in the PO. Same goes for JDub who's gonna need to at least hit his long 2 or be better at the rim which is something he failed to in the Dallas series.
I just want a scorer that had some experience or that I know will be able to knock his shots down. That's why I'm a bit less excited about Cam Johnson than others because I think our squad is so good that experience is still the X factor (or just the mental aspect of the PO) and he won't bring much in that aspect.
Experience is a bit overrated sometimes for sure and SGA proved people wrong last season with his incredible series against Dallas but other players (Isaiah Joe and Chet comes to mind) couldn't hit their shots and I don't think it was only random/variance. Lacking another experienced scorer as your only weakness is a rich problem to have but to me the only one that I would try to improve when I think achieving the ultimate goal of winning it all.

J Dub would look more like a number 2 option if Chet we healthy and playing. Or at least his underwhelming performances would be better hidden.

I still love JDub but there's a pretty good chance I was wrong about his ceiling unfortunately. I genuinely thought he was gonna end up being the best player from the 2022 draft but he hit a pretty big wall on offense. It bothers me because he might still make a big leap but it's gonna take a while if it happens.

Herro will be the face of the next Miami heat generation. They will not trade him away.

For me it's clear the only addition to our roster which makes sense, is Cam Johnson.

I’d like you to think on this for another 48-72 hours and then let me know if you still feel the same.
