MIA, with the Butler situation, is always a threat too…even if it’s a 3-way. GSW also hunting big game with Kuminga/Wiggins might get into conversation (perhaps 3-way, not for Fox)…Ingram/Herb/NOLA could come out of nowhere too to get into convo.

We play the Kings on February 5h. The deadline is February 6th. Hopefully, the Kings make a trade around that time, so they're shorthanded.

Re: Magic reportedly eyeing Deaaron Fox trade, preparing for instant title contention
I wouldn't read too much into this. Not the right move. The time to trade would be around next draft. 2 first round picks and offload Cole and WCJ. No way am I giving up on AB or TDS and KCP has great value on the court even if the box score doesn't always reflect it. I get the intrigue of a big splashy trade for a star, but this would completely derail the team that's been built. The roster construction definitely isn't a finished piece by any means, but Fox is not the guy for Orlando.

This move makes no sense given Franz's elevation as a player. There isn't a reason to have 3 ball dominate guys who all play the same way. This team needs 3&D guys.

Yes, it did say that. So while you're bickering about others bickering, maybe read the article.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Jrue wasn't role player. Guy was allstar at age of 22.
In addition in he was top 4th in APG in 2012-13 and 7th in 2013-14 and 5th in 2018-19.
He was also never payed like role player. In 2017-18 he was 14th highest payed player in nba. In comparison to today's league, 14th highest player is Lebron, making little less than $50M .
So yea... "prime Jrue type" would be amazing, but will also cost you max salary slot.
As for Fox, i don't think i would cash my chips for him, but he also isn't that expensive with 39th highest salary in nba.
I don't know. Fox would probably offer the most of if he ends up on Spurs.

Clearly I'm not on your reading level...can you patiently show me where, exactly, in the article you posted, that it says anything about Fox listing ORL as a possibility, let alone preference?

I was concerned about the three ball dominant stars thing but the Magic are about to be capped out anyways with Franz and Paolo contracts so we may as well put our chips into the middle.

This team is fine though... you got Star 2 point Forwards and a really good roster around them, that is 1-2 good role players away from competing for a title.
If you trade for a De'Aaron Fox you gut the team for a guy who plays very similar to your other stars. Cuts down your versatility/compromise the defensive identity and you're consistently one injury away from the team being mediocre for the lack of depth/versatility.
You see this team now with its depth still competing out here on a night-to-night basis with the better teams without its 2 stars. That means the surrounding pieces are good enough. That's why completely gutting the team for one guy makes no sense to me. You just add a playmaking/scoring wing and reliable 3&D guy off the bench + better offensive scheme in the following season they should be contenders.

Not the right move for a team who is awful on the offensive end? Not to mention Fox is a very good defender too

Fox shoots 33% from 3 for his career. Magic are shooting 31% from 3 as the worst team in the NBA.

Yup, very clunky fit as an "all-in" move to win in Paolos 3rd and 4th year. For the right price sure I will take him, but if it costs what we think it will cost there's got to be a more efficient scorer that makes sense down the line.

I rather wait until the off season to see whether Steph Curry is available!

Now you're argument makes absolutely zero sense. Boston just won the title with basically four all stars and essentially perfected the style started by the Warriors.
The Magic need more than two role players, we got one of them last offseason his name is KCP.
We still need a talent upgrade to bring the overall ceiling of the team higher and the way to do that is by consolidating assets for another all star. Fox isn't a great outside shooter but he's still better than Black abd generates more space than all of our guards.

Re: Magic reportedly eyeing Deaaron Fox trade, preparing for instant title contention
I.cant see how Weltman would be interested in this move.
It would mean moving one of Suggs or KCP. I know it's possible to achieve it without doing that (in the short term), but 3 into 2 doesn't go.
Weltman will not backtrack on the KCP signing. That was made for bringing playoff experience, something he hasn't been able to pass on yet. I don't see this FO indulging in about turns that make people question the original signing. Not their bag.
That said, we're talkimg about a really great player , looking for a future contender, who's on a reasonable deal for his talent and still only entering his prime.
Would the DeVos family accept the financial consequences of a Fox Suggs Wagner Banchero team? We've no way of knowing, they've never been in this spot. Our history is to lowball and cut corners, but this is a very different scenario.
