So if those who voice support for almost all of the moves made by Winger are a cult are those who dislike almost all of the moves made by Winger also a cult? Asking for a friend.

I cant really criticize their draft picks much because i didn't see any no brainer picks they missed. If Topic was healthy i thought he was a no brainer at 2 but missing a year i can see passing on him (although i might have picked him anyway). At 14 he could have picked McCain but i suspect the size issue came into play there. Kyshawn is fine in the 20s.
Bilal at 8 is fine. I wasn't following the draft at all back then but in hindsight i don't see a no brainer pick that we should have taken instead.

Weird that that the characterization is binary.
- hate all of the moves by Winger
- don't like most of the moves by Winger
- like some of the moves but don't like other moves by Winger
- like most of the moves by Winger but don't like some of the moves by winger
- there was no other way to approach this other than how Winger has done so thus far
Does that seem binary to you? The last one, could be a cult - asking for a different friend.
And yes, it is fascinating given their history that DC fans haven't committed Wizacide.

It's also impossible to evaluate anything winger has done without first stating how absolutely sexy Deni Avdija is. Something about his stride, his swagger, his smile, he just has that je ne sais quoi that you can't find from any Tom, Dick, or Harry.

Wait…are you suggesting that there’s a Deni-loving cult as well as a Winger-loving cult? That’s scary. This board is gonna need an intervention.

Beal trade was really good, but a lot of the positive from that was undone by taking on Poole.
Gafford trade was good too, no complaints there.
Everything else really underwhelming to terrible to being downright outmaneuvered. Draft picks thus far TBD but what we know as of today, nothing I would categorize as great despite everyday being told I should leap on of my chair and clap my hands like a seal at every highlight posted by Monumental Sports.
The Dawkintologist on this board preach everyday that we'll need a decade to evaluate Dawkins, if you can ever truly at all evaluate him, and that he's done everything he could, and that it's only those that are putting out the evil haterade energy into the universe trying to poison one velvet hearted Wizards fans at a time that have it wrong. Everyday it's a new rationale why he didn't do this, why he did this, something other excuse making.
BTW this is me from page 9 of the 2024 Draft Tread - Part III, a day before the draft:
CntOutSmrtCrazy wrote:A day away and I'm bummed about the high probability of Sarr being the pick. It would be malpractice if we gave up anything of significant value (ala 26th) to move up to get him, when I don't even want him if we can have him at value at our spot. I get that you have to take some swings for the fences given our position, but the bust potential with him has to be factored in here too.
This talk of there almost being a relationship there with Sarr & Dawkins makes me feel queasy that we've got blinders on. Hope I'm wrong.
There are plenty of other folks that had similar trepidation, only to fall in line one their grand master Dawkins made the pick. This is just one example that it isn't some revisionist history because Deni was traded, Deni was just the final salvo that I could tell very quickly Dawkins was trash and that we been had.
So if you want to have Stockholm syndrome and be mad at people who don't want to fall in line with the hive mind because NBA talking heads told me I should, have fun. Ignorance is bliss, and I truthfully can't blame you given this franchise's track record.

I've already given my 2 cents on Dawkins/Winger, and just like their predecessor, I am not impressed. And the "cult" of the previous guy who got booted for bad moves that handicapped this team for years have now moved to this new cult.
Same ****, different toilet. That's all I'm seeing so far.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
I'm willing to give this management team the benefit of the doubt whether or not it works out because they are the first ones in Wizards history to be willing to trade win now for draft capital.
Think about it, in the entire tired history of this franchise, off the top of my head, the only times we've really dealt win now for future since at least 1980 is Jeff Malone for Pervis Ellison and the deal MJ made with Vancouver. Now we are going all in on future. It may not work but what we've done for the last 60 years didn't and at least we are taking a shot.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
I like how wanting to be patient with a multiyear long rebuild is branded as "cultlike" behavior, but collecting locks of Deni's hair and building a shrine to him in your closet, treating his trade as some sort of heart shattering break up, having a completely parasocial relationship with an NBA player that doesn't know you even exist, somehow doesn't meet that same criteria.
It's important to remember that 1% of the american population is schizophrenic. I'm not using this as a slur. But there are clearly posters on this board that fit that criteria.

Just as you were against drafting Sarr some of us were very much in favor of taking him at #2. The record will show that I was one of those people. And I still like (and see) the upside and potential that I saw in Sarr before the draft….and that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Winger drafted him.
BTW, who did you want the Zards to take with the second pick?

Hmm. Checking my list.
I was against drafting Sarr, but can see his potential value.
I hated the Deni trade, but have come to appreciate Bub and the various other assets.
Hate drafting for upside and prefer to pick box score soldiers who have shown a track record of improvement.
BUT I appreciate that we are looking long term and are willing to miss big on the possible upside.
Plus: Late Growth Spurts! Bub grew a foot in two years! Docs say Kyshawn may top out at 6'10"! Bilal has grown a couple inches since last year! Teenagers grow up!
It's entirely possible long association with this team has broken my brain into two distinct personalities.
On the other hand I'm not the one whose moniker loudly shouts bout how they ain't smart, just crazy. So.

But if you want to lash out. Come here: We can have fun.
Yes, everyone. Keep your Dawkins criticism to the trolling thread. Only tranquil, group think as not to irritate other delicate sensibilities elsewhere.
No no no CrazyCnt my friend, you give me way too much credit.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
On topic though. I would love to find a way that we climb into the late 1st round this year. OR top of the 2nd.
Teams with multiple 1st round picks:
Jazz. 3 picks but they are bottom scrapers like us and will be happy to use all their selections.
Brooklyn. Ditto. But with 4 picks in the first round maybe they would be willing to shift one to a future year.
Spurs. With 2 picks, they showed they were willing to trade out of last year's draft for future selections.
Magic. 2 firsts. Young team that may be willing to add prospects, though it seems like they have a logjam of youth right now.
Hawks. 2 firsts. Odd team, they are both win-now with Tre and seem like they are stuck in the mediocre trap. Churn in the organization may be reflected in their upsydownsy record. Adding new energy with youth may be one way to go, though it seems like they want to build around Tre and make it work. That and the defense of Dyson Daniels.
OKC. 3 picks plus a roster that is already stacked with impending issues on who to keep. They may want to trade out of a later pick.
None of the above seems like they'd want the assets we'd most want to ship. Kuz. Kispert. Brogdon. JV. Poole. I don't see a good fit for any of them. Curious if there's a multi-team deal where we send a guy ^^^ plus some of our mess of 2nd rounders in order to climb into the late first. I like Rasheer Fleming and Thomas Sorber as guys who meld well with the guys we already have on the roster. Defensive stalwarts who play unselfish ball. Both with significant upside. Both currently mocked in the late 1st.

There will be opportunities to trade multiple seconds to good teams who are draft strapped and need filler players on the bench.

Minisota : Brogdon, Davis, gill.
Was : Randle, that weird protected det pic they have. That 2025 Den/Phil second, that 2026 ind/mia/sas second and the 2030 second round picks swap with GS.
They really need an upgrade at PG with their PG play falling off a cliff. Connelly can move to the bench and Brogdon can take over.
Randle can still be traded for something his contract isn't terrible and we might be able to parlay him into more assets to someone.

Yes OKC is stacked with talent and their 2024 pick (Topic) won’t even suit up this season.
I’ve said several times that I could see OKC trading one of its three 2025 FRPs…maybe to the Zards for the 2029 FRP we got from Portland in the Deni trade.

I’d love to trade Brogdon for a quality asset but, sadly, I don’t see that happening until he can prove he can stay healthy.
I don’t see the Zards having any interest in a ball-dominant veteran forward like Randle. We already have one of those (Kuzma) that we’re trying to get rid of.
And why would Minny even consider including those picks, especially when they’re giving up the best player in the trade?

How do we know that they didn't do exactly that -- or something quite similar? Asked for X, went through negotiations, & then took Y when it became obvious it would be that or nothing whatever.
I know we didn't do exactly that because we ended up with Tyus Jones.
Boston may have initially said that they refused to include in a first round pick, but we can't know if they mean it unless we walk away from the no-pick deal. We didn't walk away from the deal. We accepted. We blinked first.
