I think throwing a big offer at Turner would serve a duel purpose. By trading Poeltl and RJ we get worse and tank harder for Flagg, then we fill the C spot with Turner.
Turner / Olynyk / Fleming
Barnes / Mogbo
Flagg / Battle
Dick / Walter
IQ / Shead
That looks better than what we are currently running with. Even if we land 5-10th and draft a player like McNeeley we'd be better than what we currently are. IND without Turner will be a straight dumpster fire next year and could translate into a pick in the top 10.
In a previous post ITT you called RJ's contract toxic and said "no one is giving up assets for him"
Now you're saying we can trade RJ for picks/expirings.
If RJ is as bad as you say he is and is a toxic asset why would any GM give up even an expiring for him? This is beyond delusional.
I'm not Thaddy, but I will say that you only need one GM.
Bulls gave up a reported Caruso return that was multiple firsts to bring in an RJ type in Giddey. There might be one or two GMs out there who think they'll get fired if they don't win 40 games and RJ can help them.
Also you can end up in a situation where taking on some money is fine, like the Clippers could do RJ for Tucker + Mann with the idea that RJ can bolster their shaky offence (22nd on O and it's even worse when Harden or Powell sits) and help them be a consistent playoff team while Kawhi gets his regular season rest. All they give up is Mann + 20M to use on non-tax MLE/Coffey/Bones. Barrett might make more sense for them with their great D and bad O and the Kawhi minutes managing situation (and it's time to start playing Harden a little less when possible in the regular season, he's played more minutes than guys like Kevin Willis, Lowry, Dominique, Dwyane Wade, and you can see it when he's playing good teams or trying to finish inside the 3pt line now).
And then I do think we could move Mann for expirings, he's a solid bench player who hits 3s and plays D.
