I'm still just completely shook over this trade. This can't be real life. Absolutely surreal.
NBA corruption just completely out in the open now.

If the Mavericks don't win the championship this year or next, fans should revolt and boycott the team. Anything less than a championship is a failure, since they got to the finals last year, and they did this trade to upgrade and get better.
Lakers have no big man now. GMs should not want to deal with Pelinka after this, there is no need to help them any further.
They have already. He's a fat lazy guy with a serious alcohol problem. And he told them to **** off and he won't be resigning. So DAL made a snap decision and shipped him off to LA under the cover of darkness on a Saturday night like he needed to break out of prison. Instead of shopping him around and at least hearing offers. Nothing to see here.

Other GMs commenting they would’ve given up so much more for Luka but didn’t even know Dallas was willing to move the Franchise Superstar. Apparently Dallas GM made 1 phone call to Lakers and pulled the trigger. Seems fishy, maybe money under the table from the Lakers kind of fishy lol. Don Luka!!!

So Cuban, ultra Luka fan, involved sitting courtside fanboying owner, sells the majority stake just after Luka leads the team to his first finals appearance? And to Vegas casino owners.
Before that, this was an interwoven issue:
On anniversary of the Gasol trade, another lopsided one
AD, repped by Klutch, had no idea this was coming but waived his no trade clause for it.
LBJ, top Klutch food chain, also apparently had zero idea of it
LBJ wants to own / have stake in ownership of a Vegas NBA team.
I don't know how but there are some underlying unstated reasons, be it long term LBJ/Klutch in NBA ownership, be it pressure on Cuban, be it pressure from new Mavs ownership.
Nothing. NO reason given makes sense as to why not that Luka was traded but the covert manner in which it was done and the low return.
Not Luka fatness, not his poor D, not his maybe asking for a trade (he didn't), not his perhaps not re-signing with Mavs and potentially leaving in 2026, not the 'D wins championships' atatement when now pairing two 1B players together in AD and KI.
Nothing explains the absolute settling for such a low return, and with so many NBA executives not having a chance at a trade proposal - probably because so very many could have beaten the package accepted.
There has to be some price balancing of this somewhere, even long term.
And I happen to think, I don't know how, it ends up with LBJ getting a helping hand in eventual NBA ownership stake.
That's my conspiracy theory take.
Bron gets Luka AND the opportunity the become the face of an ownership group? He really is LeGoat if he pulled that off

This is wild. Who tf does Nico Harrison think he is? Can’t believe ownership gave him that much influence.

It’s always been like this. In fact Stern was waaaay more open about it than Silver is. This is one of the reasons Lakers Championships should have asterisks. Or better yet, rolleyes.

Nico just gave "props" to Rob Pelinka before mentioning he didn't tell Jason Kidd anything

LMAO wait... according to him, they were discussing this for 3-4 weeks... and no other teams were consulted? Hahahaha.... how can you say that out loud and not realize how many conspiracy theories are going to spawn from that?

I've always felt the Lakers stuff is overblown (the league did veto the Paul trade, and a lot of players do just flat out want to play in LA). But this one, this is just silly. It has the feel of, "the fans are tuning out anyways, let's just get it done and figure out how we'll explain it later".

I assume he demanded to go to LA. Because if not, why not have an all out trade war for him? There is no doubt they could’ve gotten so much more in return from other teams.
Just for what little they got in return. I feel like it has to be one of 2 things.
1. He demanded a trade only to LA and made it known he was going to bounce to free agency in 2 summers unless it was to the Lakers
2. There is massive red flags with his medical that we’re don’t know about.
Youre delusional
If it was a team other than the Lakers, New York Boston or Miami you could maybe try to explain but this was obviously done for league revenue and health of the business.
Luka is out of shape and still averaging 28 7 and 8 and took the team to the Finals last year
Any counter argument is silly
So are you saying the league called up Dallas and told them to trade him to LA?

Stuff like this is starting to pull me into conspiracy territory.
I normally wait until we have more info. You expect me to believe AD was truly the only person Nico wanted? Come on now. There’s gotta be more to this.
