And now the NBA is leaving one of its larger markets for Vegas? Why? They already have an expansion team coming. If the Dallas ownership wanted casinos they would have waited a couple more years and just had the expansion team. The Mavs aren’t moving. Some of these posts are straight up delusional and ridiculous.

This has nothing to do with Donald Trump, who said that? This is about the Adelsons/Mavericks having an ulterior motive for trading Luka because Texas is pushing back on legalizing gambling and they want to take the team to Vegas so they can use them to build an arena/casino.

This is coming from Mavs fans. I'm just saying, this reminds me of the same way the Nets got ripped out of NJ. First thing the owner did was start stripping the team down because the team was the key to finalizing his Atlantic Yards real estate development deal.

This move is inexplicable otherwise.

How are they aligned when Kidd had no clue that he was going to trade Luka?

Houston would've traded 5frps and 5 swaps, salary match, for luka btw.

Minnesota trades Anthony Edwards for luka.

OKC would close their eyes trade Dort, salary match, and 5frps and 5 swaps for luka. in fact, I would bet they would do Chet/dort/match/no picks for luka.

Every team in the league would have blown every asset to get Luka and his bird rights.

i'll chime in here cause i got a lil expertise in assuming i know what a partner wants - he fcked up. always communicate with your partner(s) when making big life changing decisions or they get a lil pissed off at you. even if it was the right move.

nico seams really out of touch with the gravity of the situation and those around him. he also gives off the air that he is smarter than everyone, too. the way he is moving is pretty embarrassing.

That'll work. Rui can play PF while OG misses the rest of the year.

seen people say that he had to do it this way cause if word got out that luka was on the block he would have made demands to a certain team and nuked his trade value. which im not buying. from reports nico really wanted ad and has for a couple years. so he got what he wanted.

ive spent all morning watching reaction videos and i can't imagine how it feels to conduct a trade or be a fan of the team that EVERYONE involved with hoops initial reaction was it was bullcht cause it was such a bad trade.

nico clearly thinks he is just operating on a higher level cause during that press conference he was cracking a joke about his owner laughing about the trade when he first suggested it. hubris is an awesome high. but damn when the wings melt and we come crashing down. that sht sucks.

Here's some small positivity I don't really feel comfortable typing.

Used to be the Knicks were the ones doing the universally condemned trades.

Ok.

That's it.

I'm completely flummoxed.
Absolutely senseless trade for Dallas. Basically gave him away for nothing, as others said.
For the Lakers I get it long term, but this is an awful fit next to Lebron.
Are they basically showing him the door?
For that price, I guess you gotta do it, but it's still really bizarre.

Davis is one of the best players in the league. You have to wonder though: couldn’t they have gotten, say Edwards or Giannis? However, the answer may simply be no and looking through the list of NBA all stars, there is no one else to prefer over Davis who isn’t better than Doncic, if you know what I mean. Either Doncic is worse (so you cannot get the other player for Doncic) or the package around Davis is more desirable than a Jalen Williams or JJJ etc.

For the Lakers it’s a no-brainer. They’re now set for the next ten years. LeBron has basically retired as far as their plans are concerned.

I wonder why Boston wasn’t interesting for Dallas.. but Davis is a good player.

It really is infuriating that the Lakers routinely acquire franchise cornerstones from other teams, even when they don't have the proper assets or team in place. Kareem, Shaq, LeBron, and now Doncic.

But every time I've felt that frustration boiling up this time around, I remember Cuban and the MFFL's smug chuckling when they thought they ripped us off for KP, when they unquestionably tanked to keep their pick from us, acted confused at the accusations, then openly laughed after they got off with a simple fine and drafted Lively. And it becomes a wonderful thing watching the ancient Angel of Death organization, the Lakers, light upon the Dallas and, simultaneously gentle and forceful, drain the life from everyone in and around the franchise. Nobody is spared, and the result is everything even tangentially connected to the Mavs is turned to dust, like Keyser Soze.

He kills their kids, he kills their wives, he kills their parents and their parents' friends. He burns down the houses they live in and the stores they work in, he kills people that owe them money. And like that he was gone.

This Mavericks homegoing is both beautiful and poetic.

Vlade Divac might be the biggest winner from this trade. It looks like people are going to remember Nico Harrison’s stupidity more than Divac’s
