Men in skin tight suits? You know I'm there. I'm actually not there.

Don't want to distract the Spurs PG thread, but I can't contribute much more than "Yikes".

I gotta go help a mate evacuate his place because we've had 420mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

My family is high and dry though, and we're not in danger of flooding. Unless this rain keeps up.

For the Americans, that's 16 inches.

Where are you at?

Townsville, North Queensland.

BTW, my mate is fine. I misread his text to help him move stuff. He just needed a hand moving his stuff from downstairs to upstairs.

WWE is good right now, but their twitter fanbase is a weird faction.

Love being sick as hell with whatever is going around and not being able to sleep. It's awesome.

Being sick just sucks. Way worse when it affects your sleep. I had plenty of colds November to early January and was expecting to come home from 7 days in Vegas (never again) but somehow avoided it. I just know whatever is going around is about to hit my family.

Covid in November and the flu in December were a bitch. Thankfully neither lasted long.

Hopefully yours is quick

I am just finally starting to feel back to normal after like a month of being sick (knock on wood). I lost like seven pounds over the holiday. Absolutely sucked. Seems like everyone is sick. Feel better soon DB.

Super Bowl week. Any/all food you guys are doing. This is a rare year I'm not hosting. I just need to bring something.

What's going on with the website that you guys are posting about?

Alrighty then...I guess we're not going to lose real gm dot com anytime soon...just was curious why people were doomsday prepping for it. I guess it remains a secret.

The only SB party I've ever gone to was 45. Otherwise, I usually watch them at home. Sometimes I have a couple friends over, but I don't plan to this year.

In any event, I'm going to be making Texas-style chili because I've been craving it recently. What follows is a recipe from a dear friend who lived in Texas for many years.

2 lbs ground beef (I usually aim for 85-15 or leaner, but if you go with an 80-20 or fattier, just skip the oil in the next step).
1 tbs of oil
1 tbs of onion powder
Brown the meat and drain off any fat.

1 8oz can of tomato paste
1 15oz can of chicken or beef broth
Add 3 whole serrano peppers. You can use jalapenos if serranos are too hot, or fewer peppers of any kind. I usually add serranos, jalapenos, and even a habanero because I like the spice. But just make sure they're whole because you're going to pull them out.

Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 min

2 tbs of chili powder
1 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp of salt
1.5 tsp of cumin
1 tsp of cayenne
1 tsp of black pepper
1 cup of chicken/beef broth
Take out the peppers and squeeze their juice back into the chili.

Simmer for one hour

Adjust consistency to your liking by adding extra chicken/beef broth.
Finish with a couple tsp of chili powder, a tsp of paprika, and salt to taste.

Simmer for another 15-30 minutes. Good to go.
