He should be. He got the 5 that he always asked for in Gafford and Lively. Kyrie is his PG now. Klay is his shooter and he also have Washington. This is a complete team and if healthy, could make it to the finals. Dallas made the trade to win now. Lakers did it for the future but if Lakers could make another move for a starting center Lakers could also compete now. It's just that at this point Dallas has a better chance than Lakers.

I’d say only about 1% of Lakers fans are against this trade, and even they don’t have a solid argument for why. The remaining 99% are thrilled and ready to embrace Luka as the new face of the Los Angeles Lakers. As for those claiming AD is worth more than Luka, I wouldn’t take them too seriously. Maybe the legal marijuana has them confused, thinking we traded for Luka Garza instead. Who knows? One thing’s for sure, 99% of Laker Nation is beyond excited to see Luka in Purple and Gold.

I’m in Boston for work and had no clue this was happening…. Dudes are talking about going to the Celtics game Thursday so I turned in today just to see what’s been happening…. Celtics playing the Mavs Thursday…. Might have to check it out

If we go with the premise that has been presented to us, you still stole him from us. And when I say us, I mean the fans of course. Nico Harrison is not 'us'. He is a single malignant and arrogant chump who went into business for himself because of his own weird agenda against Luka. Congrats on being the beneficiary of that, but something was stolen from Mavericks fans and sorry if you can't tell already, Luka doesn't want to be there. He's crying as much as we are.

Luka wants to be where he is wanted by both the fans and by the franchise.
The Laker franchise already showed their love by trading a future HOFer for him.
Laker fans will show him how much they support him once he puts on the P&G.
And once he wears that Laker jersey, plays in Crypto, hears the roar of the crowd for him, sees the rafters with the championship banners and the retired jerseys, he will know that he is in a much better place than he has ever been.

It’s just a horrible basketball decision for this season, unless Rob gets us a Center.

He will change his ways under LeBron?

I think Bron might have already demanded out.

For basketball reasons.

We'll see. I'm warming up to this deal after I slept on it for a day or two. If nothing else, it breaks us out of the toilet spiral we were in. At 25, he will have trade value for a while....and obviously, he's got a good decade in front of him, should he prove to be what we hope he can be.

I'm not worried about this season. I think he and Lebron should just say "f-it" and play with house money. Would be nice if they could get SOMEONE to play center. I'd even take the beefcake in Utah everyone's fawning over (if we can do it without picks)...but I hear Ainge is pretty damn butt-hurt about what just happened! lol....another reason I like this deal. I wouldn't expect anything from the Jazz. Is Dwight alive? Or one of the Lopez brothers? We literally need room temperature meat to play center...we got nothing. Just don't waste picks...or deal out guys with value. Not unless it's real. We can address these things in the offseason, when it can be done correctly.

I'd love Lebron to accept a move to GS...so we could get something for him, and fully move forward. But I suspect we're stuck with him for another year. Not the end of the world. Lebron is still damn good. I think he and Luka could do serious damage, if they can figure out playing together comfortably. I don't think we could possible create a decent defensive team with them...but it would be a fun season, and then when Lebron leaves, we get the cap space to get going in earnest.

Or not...listen, I still have my doubts as well. I think it's crazy that Dallas have just come out and said that they were tired of his conditioning issues....instead of the usual "We wish Mr Doncic the best of luck wherever he goes, and he will always be apart of the Maverick's family" <----this was a bit nasty. And I just don't know that we can win titles with a guy who dominates the ball so much. It's a fair question to ask. Harden sure looked close...but ultimately couldn't beat the strong TEAMS when push came to shove.

Would love to see the Lakers cart poor old Phil in for the summer to work with Luka...and get some of that zen sh** he imparted to Jordan, about trusting his teammates more.

So yeah...I share your concerns...1000%. But we have a wonderful out - what with him being so young. He can be moved easily, unlike AD...had we tried to keep him for a couple more years. And who knows?? This might work out beautifully, and I'll have to kiss Pelinka's a$$...and talk about how all along, I knew he was the man for the job. =0)

Im just so glad they did SOMETHING. I was sick to death of that team. And let's be honest....even if it's not the best choice...It's miles better than a Jimmy Butler deal, or something equally god-awful, and short-sighted. This could work out big-time.

I’m coming around to it, too. Giving up AD is such a blow to our defense. And Christie is an elite defender already. He shut down Brunson.

However, I have to say, our team defense without AD and Max against the Clippers still looked really good!!!

At that point, I chilled out about this trade, might have to eat crow ahead.

Still, fat and lazy on defense is unacceptable here.

Sad to see AD go

Welcome Luka.

Maybe you can pick swamp homes and give AD some cash.

Still we didn't stole anything. It's Harrison's fault if you want someone to blame. And don't act like AD is just a scrub in exchange for Luka. Wait till everything sinks in with Luka and how he will destroy the Mavs because of this betrayal.

If we believe the premise that Nico lost his mind, sure you didn't steal anything. This whole thing is way too lucrative to not be skeptical. You'd actually be a massive idiot if you weren't skeptical.

I am counting on Luka to destroy the Mavs. My energy is not going to be on rooting for the Mavs it's going to be on getting rid of Nico & the owners who got in between Luka & the fans - both parties wanted each other & had the same dream & I don't believe that will change no matter what happens during his time in LA.

I hope AD and Max plays well in Dallas. They are great two way players. I hope it will always be Lakers / Mavs in the WCF in the next years to come. Just healthy competition. I will Always root for AD and Max like I know you will for Luka. See you in the WCF.

AD and Max seem like really good guys, and I know they are great players. It's unfortunate the situation they are walking into is dire. Mavs fans will cheer for them though. If it's the Lakers vs Mavs in the WCF I will root for Luka. He is a special player and a special person who provided us all with so much hope and I want him to win a chip. When he comes to Dallas he will be cheered every time he touches the ball. Be nice to him, sure he can both win and lose you a game on his own, but he will make you believe magic is real. Enjoy

This has nothing to do with Rob. It has everything to do with money and the NBA. You’re kidding yourselves if you think your team pulled off a heist. You’re the Lakers. You make money for the league. It’s a business. You’re just lucky you like the team that everything is fixed for.

The fact that you’re borderline complaining about getting Luka Doncic just shows how spoiled you all are. You of all fan bases don’t deserve him.

Quit crying, and go get some sunlight. We went almost a decade winning like 20-25 games. And if you truly believed your little pouting act...why are you even around engaging in a bought out league?

Don’t even act like you’ve had to suffer as a fan. You can’t compare to any other franchise. I’m also not pouting. I don’t even have a horse in this race. I’m an NBA follower from Toronto and am not a Mavericks fan. I also will engage less due to the fact that it clearly lacks integrity or respect for their viewership.
