Dame
Green/Trent/KPJ??
Prince
Kuzma
Giannis
Is that what our "small-ball" lineup looks like? We still don't have a real perimeter stopper right now on defense and it's not like you upgraded the perimeter shooting much at all. If the goal was to just dump Khris for a warm body that can soak up 28-30 minutes a night, then mission accomplished I guess. Because we did absolutely nothing beyond that to address any the roster weaknesses.
Prince is fine as a spot up shooter when others create space for him. He’s brutal otherwise when he tries to play outside of his skill set. I guess he’s fine as a defender but I don’t have much confidence there either. That small ball lineup is atrocious imo. Giannis at center just isn’t the recipe for success, sorry not sorry. He’s developed so many habits over his career that make it impossible for him to settle into that role. Small ball or traditional or whatever you want to say, when Giannis is the lone defensive anchor, we lose those minutes much more often than not. Horst did jack **** to soften that stance. If major changes are coming, Horst being canned should be 1st on the agenda. Having Brook Lopez as a “spacer” still on the roster makes no sense. We should change that whole ideology with him and call him a “camper” or a “trailer” because that’s all he ever does.

Giannis at C lineups is what won the title. PJ Tucker was playing important minutes averaging zero points. He's evolved now to coasting on defense and rebounding to save his legs for offense because the offense has cratered this season. Even under Griffin we couldn't stop anyone but could put up 120 points like it was nothing. The issue is that the good teams consistently force us to play small-ball when they go small and space everyone out, asking Brook to guard a 6'5 dude who can shoot. No series more evident than the ECSF series in 2022 against Boston when Horford looked like Bob McAdoo lighting us up in the pick-and-pop game.
I also agree that having a mobile and somewhat athletic big who can rim run, cut, rebound and play decent defense is really what's needed. You'd rather have perimeter guys from the 3 on down that can space the floor (and attack a closeout). It took how many years and Doc F'N Rivers to actually use Brook's size in the dunker and play some high/low action with Giannis that could work occasionally.
