Is that it for Christian Wood?

Post#1 » by Liam_Gallagher » Wed Feb 12, 2025 3:25 pm

This guy had a very up-and-down career. He went from being a G League journeyman to one of the league's most underrated player. Multiple 18+PPG 8+RPG seasons. Was one of the best 6th men when he was on the Mavs. Now he's a fringe rotation player who hasn't played in a year with no injury updates since November. Getting released for Alex Len?

Is this it for him? Back to the G league?

Pretty sad when you play for the Lakers and people forget you exist. Maybe a bad team signs him but he’s pretty much an afterthought

He has to prove he can stay healthy, he messed up having surgery in October when he got hurt last February. :banghead:

Undersized, injury prone, and never really seemed to be valued by any franchise he played for despite putting up decent raw numbers. He’s probably on his way out of the league.

If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

He's injured and the Lakers aren't confident he'll be healthy soon when they need a C on the roster immediately.

It's very possible the Lakers re-sign him and waive Len, Morris, or Reddish before the end of the season if he gets healthy.

Insert “but it might work for us” meme.

He looked relatively slow on the Lakers and was not good offensively but actually solid defensively. Then he got injured and missed a whole season. Strange stop for him in LA.

He's also been a poor defender in most of his stops although he looked ok on that end in LA.

He has had a few decent seasons considering he had to scratch and claw to make it in the league playing for at least 6 organizations before he hit 23 yo. Assuming he gets healthy he might be able to catch on with another team at some point. He's still only 28.

Nuggets should pick him up, Jokic will find ways to make him useful

He still won in the end after that girl left him on draft night he still managed to have an NBA career and made millions barely making it to the league.

It don't even matter what he doesn't this point because he won at life. Basketball ship can sail.

True story? Because he didn't get drafted?

Yep. This actually happened. His ex with the blonde hair was behind him and after draft night left him. According to Wood:

“I lost my girlfriend that night, too," Wood said. "I dropped her off at the airport after the draft and never saw her again.”

Regardless, the biggest knock on him that cost him dearly at the time was his immaturity and teams thought of him as a mid 1st-early 2nd player, but chose not to take him. Ultimately he managed to shine and after years of going between the g-league and NBA, was able to make an 8 year career and took home $50M+. Hopefully he's smart with his money and this was honestly a blessing in disguise.

Damn that's savage. That video about black girls definitely doesn't line up with Wood's experience, lol.

Too bad he's hurt because he looks fifty times better than Alex Len.
