This is why we need to look at the team with Mitch very closely when he comes back. Not that he's some panacea that fixes everything (so nobody respond with that kind of dumb **** post) but he's a different _type_ of player that can cover for some of KAT/JB's deficiencies. A proper rim protector. We can evaluate if that type of player or maybe Mitch himself helps us compete or if we're still substantially deficient. Likewise, it gives us a proper look at Thibs with these offensive weapons and a drop coverage big.

We also should have given Huk some run to that effect. The C's were abusing us on the glass.

So we all agree that Kat at the 5 is untenable???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think we can win a championship with Kat without an elite defesnive center next to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are certainly going to be some matchups where it's untenable. I don't quite know what Huk is yet - still needs some seasoning - but I've been encouraged at his ability to guard in space as well as rim protect.

As I've been saying from day one... KAT and Brunson is not an ideal pairing (due to defense) and Thibs is not a championship coach. I love all those guys but not if we want a title.

1) Replace Thibs with Johnnie Bryant or Dan Hurley (ie a modern coach)
2) Commit to Brunson, so KAT has to be traded (maybe for a guy like Giannis or, alternatively, for multiple pieces)
3) Bring in a 3&D wing who can play make some so JB/Hart aren't your only playmakers.

We can take the next step... just need to make the right moves this off-season. I believe in Leon.

We could do this tho:

-If Brunson and Towns are playing together there should be a rim protector on the court.

-Play KAT at the 5 when Brunson sits. Playing KAT at the 5 should still be apart of the game just not the whole game.


-When KAT sits, run a one big lineup(ideally Mitch) with 4 floor spacers. This maximizes the spacing for Brunson and prevents the opposing teams from not guarding two players like Hart and Mitch. Ideally a lineup of Brunson Deuce Mikal OG and Mitch.

Weak in the ass Mikal gets sealed off by KP without any problems waiting for the lob. KAT now has to decide does he go help or does he stay up so he’s in no man’s land. Tatum attacks off the screen and gets KAT back pedaling and KAT provides zero resistance at the rim for an easy layup and that is with OG trying his best to still help and contest.

Layups and dunks. No matter the scheme, KAT is still targeted

and I showed you where the switching works from the last game with clips...and crickets from you because it doesn't fit your narrative. No defensive system is going to work everytime especially with KAT's lack of defensively ability along with Brunson. But that just doesn't mean continue to run drop...especially vs the celtics..people have shown the numbers so I don't have to restate them.

Also the Celtics shot way worse from 3 yesterday and we switched way more in that game than the previous two. So I'm not sure what the last clip shows,

We were actually way worse in Precious minutes than KAT's and he's a way better defender. We still gave up pts with KAT off the floor.

And we don't talk about our offense...why are we putting up 19 pts in the 1st qtr? Again we go into a game a team is just going to switch all our screens and then we are way too slow to have a counter for that.

So we are back here again

Literally Bargnani bad. Just sad. Mind blowing that people won’t acknowledge how garbage he’s been on defense. But let’s blame OG and Thibs instead.

Thibs has a role in all this for his stubbornness to keep KAT at the 5, so yeah, we got to blame Thibs, too. As much as I love Hart, OG isn't a 4, and Hart should be off the bench. When this trade went down and it was announced Mitch was going to be out longer than reported, my concern with OG being the 4 was immediate. Precious getting hate so early on threw out any sort of lineup variation. Considering how weak Deuce has been as the 6th man, it just makes all the sense in the world to me to have Hart be that spark plug we need, and go a different route with the starting lineup. Personally, I wanted a Precious/KAT/OG/Bridges/JB lineup.

I hear you, but I’m not really sure what Thibs can do. The Knicks fked up going all in on Mikal cause we’re very limited in our assets to get a rim protector next to KAT. That’s on the front office.

It's hard to defend the Bridges trade because of the picks, but if you put a gun to my head and say if I thought he could turn it around, I'd say yes. JB extending doesn't happen without Bridges. The lack of offensive creativity by Thibs end doesn't make Bridges consistency look any better. This is why I keep saying I feel like Thibs took a coaching step back this season, because last season I was going to bat for him day in and day out. This season, I just don't see it. Makes me truly wonder how much of a good influence Johnnie had on him.

Hell, seeing him put KAT back in pissed me the hell off.

A lot of people talked about the defense and the poor fit with Thibs but didn't throw a huge fit in every thread for the whole year or just leave because of it. We're not contenders yet but we have one of the better Knicks teams since the 90s without even having a rim protector/drop big that Thibs needs to make a defense hum. We're also a big step up from where the team was over the summer after losing our second most impactful player last year for nothing.

However, I do agree with everyone who is saying KAT needs to have a rim defender next to him. There were things happening defensively that I thought was just piss poor from Karl yesterday regardless of drop coverage.

This offseason the team needs to add an additional ball handler and interior defender. I would also probably shop Mikal to see if there's a way to add more pieces. I just don't see the fit anymore sadly.

The fact remains even though we are a much more talented team doesn’t mean that we are actually better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have elite talent but that means nothing if there is no grit/toughness or heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
