Right at the moment, I"d be inclined to take Haliburton, to be honest.

Let's see what he does with actual good talent around him.

This is fair enough. Health and peripheral talent have definitely been an issue for Ball. If the Hornets are able to put some more legit talent around him and keep it on the court, then we might have a better feel for what he can be. Bootstrapping a crap squad is of only so much value, after all.

Well, the Hornets aren't trying to win, they clearly decided to tank before the season started. Id wager a lot that if you put him in Miami, or Orlando, or Houston, he's all of a sudden one of the can't miss top 20 players in the NBA like Cade is this season.

He isn't playing disciplined at all, but that's becuase the team doesn't give a ****.

Also, the OP, righterwriter, has a personal vendetta against LaMelo and has started a ton of threads about him since he even entered the league. He disappeared when LaMelo won ROY, and also disappeared when LaMelo led the team to 43-38 the following year

And it's not just James, but also older guys like CP3, James Harden and younger players like Trae Young,

I mean, not a quality place to start. Trae has a very high 3PAr and isn't a particularly efficient scorer himself, despite shooting in volume.

Yeah, he has been shooting a lot of 3s this year. And they weren't going to win many games regardless. The team isn't good. That wasn't any different in October compared to now. Miller isn't good. He's been just as bad about bombing double-digit 3PA/g before going down for the season. Grant was okay, for sure, but he's roasted now.

I don't know what you mean about not a quality place to start bec older players like old Kobe, Conley, Vince Carter, tend to settle and launch more 3's as they get older but STILL took less than a young Lamelo.
Trae is still taking a lot of 3pt shots but is trending downward if you compare his 2nd year which was 6 years ago, also down a bit from last year and still taking 6.3 less 3pt attempts per 100 possessions.
I prefer to use per 100 because IMO, it's more accurate than simply using per game ave bec of mins/game varies too.
Both Grant Williams and Miller shot 37.3% last season which is still decent IMO, which led me to my point that Lamelo could have exerted more effort in setting them up instead of chucking 13 3pt shots last November.

Different era, different understanding. Different shooting ability. Different physical tools. Vince tailed off rather sharply after 01, and was an afterthought in his 30s. Overrated due to how much people enjoyed his dunks. Conley... no one cares. He's a roleplayer PG. Quality vet, nice peak, but no one of consequence in this discussion. His 3PAr is north of 50% this past half decade, so he isn't a hot example. Kobe struggled as his quickness diminished, but was increasing his 3pt volume to compensate for his diminished quickness. And Lebron was a terrible example because of his physical gifts.

Per36 or just using 3PAr is more useful. No one really plays 100 poss/g.

Still missing the point, though. The Hornets needed him to float shooting volume, and he needed to conserve his body and some energy. There are only so many shots you can generate for others. Miller was getting 10.9 3PA/g already, it's not like his shooting volume could have gone up much more. And Grant Williams was getting good roleplayer shots, but he was dog-ass useless from the corners and there are only so many opportunities ATB.
