Wait so under 20% of people have a different opinion of the value of a Suns player from you, and your natural conclusion is this place is biased against Phoenix?

IDK, mate, sounds more like you are looking for something rather than it actually being a thing.

I voted 15-18. I think there is a lot of upside in the top 15 of this draft, a lot more than normal. Nothing against Durrant or PHX, but the combination of Salary, team control, his age. I don’t think anyone would trade a top 15 pick in this draft for him. Just my opinion and I am often wrong.

It’s what you are willing to pay and looking at the poll you will be outbidded.

Nothing controversial with the opinion , it’s not like you are saying he will cost picks to move .

KD is still Suns best player even if he's 35.

But also because he's 6'11 with great agility and mobility... he can play PF or stretch 4 at an elite level still for the next 3 to 4 years. Plus he had 2 years off recovering from injury so he's really 33 years old with a good 5 years to go. His height, skill set and mobility really make him still a potent stretch 4 in his late 30s.

Achilles injuries don’t make you younger lol.
Maybe he can play 3 to 4 more years at a high level, but I doubt that. So he is the best player on a lotto team. That doesn’t give him a ton of trade value imo.

Golden State disagreed. Butler, Kuminga and 2 firsts was the offer. Durant shot it down but it was still out there.

That's his value. By an actual NBA team.

We really just aren't interested in Durant, unless its dirt cheap.

If you want the picks back, find a third team who has someone good and young to add to our core.

3-way trade.

They would've sent the same package to Miami but butler goes to PHX and Dubs send Kuminga with him and more picks. Team accepted. Durant did not.

Imagine if the Nuggets ended up with the 20th pick, and the Suns offered them KD. Denver would laugh their asses off in disbelieve at the absolute steal they're getting.

So the Suns turn down Butler, Kuminga and multiple first round picks for KD a mere few weeks ago, and now magically KDs value has dropped to the 20th pick?

Yeah you're right, that seems like a perfectly sound evaluation of his value.

Arguing that it's just a "difference of opinion" when this literally has been environment tested is kind of silly.

GSW this last deadline was a unique situation. That will not be there this offseason.
Top 15 on this draft is better than a couple protected first ( depending on protection).

Yeah. You're wrong.

If anything actually, I expect an even more robust market. We might be able to beat that deal depending on the teams going against each other for his services.

Sidery just now reported via Twitter that there's expected to be anywhere 4-6 contending teams that will be trying to get him.

Contending teams tend to be more desperate.

I'm not remotely worried. We'll clean up.

Going from Butler, Kuminga and two picks to only the 2025 15-20th pick is a gargantuan drop in value.

We know what was offered for KD based on reporting by credible sources, so we roughly know what his perceived value is around the league. To deviate from that due to evolving factors is fine, but it has to be a rational deviation.

You don't realistically go from the haul the golden state warriors offered to a pick at the tail-end of the draft. Everyone has their own opinion, but let's try to keep it somewhat rooted in reality.

The GS package is just speculation by Sidney, not a real source. KD also had 2 playoff runs under contract at the TD, but will only have 1 next summer - and as a post-prime player the one left is likely worse than this year's.

I'm sure several teams will talk about trading for KD - talk is easy. How much value any of them are willing to give isn't that clear. There also has to be a major salary matching element from any team. The value of that salary matching (positive or negative) will have an effect on the incentive part of an offer.

Well the fact that Durant declined GSW and said he wouldn't extend is part of why his value tanked.

Durant in offseason is also only available for one playoff run instead of two.

I think his value dropped plenty.

Still I think maybe pick 7-8 is about right with useless expirings.

GSW can only trade two firsts due to the first they owe to Washington. Maybe Phoenix was paying a first to Miami, while getting the GSW firsts?

Just seems weird to me that Miami agrees to Wiggins+salary for Butler, KD turned it down, and then GSW decides to give Miami a first that they didn’t even ask for?

GSW being so desperate.. a team gets that way every handful of years probably right? Window closing and decide to go all in. Those teams don’t normally have a player as good/important as Curry.. But just going all in on an old star.. It happens sometimes?

But how often does a player of Jimmy Butler’s talent cause that huge a mess and your team is the only one that is willing to give him what he wants? (And your team isn’t in LA or NY…)

just was a rare perfect storm for Phoenix. And it didn’t even work out unfortunately.

I also side with no point in bringing up yesterday. Phoenix almost fell into a perfect situation.. an old star wanting a contract no one will give him, an old team desperate for one last run.. And unfortunately for Phoenix, they weren’t allowed to take advantage of it. Mix that in with KD got a year older since then and the lost a playoff run. And I don’t think it’s that real of a base.

I think his max value is 6-10. But you need a team 6-10 that’s willing to push in. Only one I see is if SAS doesn’t move up. Whatever salary SAS wants to send out with their own 2025 first.

But for Phoenix, I say get the 2027 first from Houston with whatever else they will add. Build a one year roster around Booker/Beal.. and then decide if you want to retool and blow it up at the 2026 draft.

So you think he returns a pick better than 6-10?

If he gets traded for two protected firsts, are you going to say that’s better than a guaranteed pick in the 6-10 range in a draft with nice talent in that range?

Because I think if you just want volume, a pick in the 6-10 range is worth 2-3 firsts (depending on protection obviously maybe more)..
