https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25166102-luka-doncic-rumors-mavs-wolves-didnt-specifically-discuss-star-lakers-trade"Trade discussions between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves didn't "specifically" involve Luka Dončić before he was moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
"The Mavericks' talks with Milwaukee and Minnesota, as described to me, were very brief in nature and intentionally broad and vague … meaning they did not specifically identify Dončić," Stein wrote Sunday."
And Stein's a better source than Amick
Would love to know how these talks went.
Harrison:
Would you trade Anthony Edwards for one of our players?Connelly:
Which player?Harrison:
Uhm, you know, one of our players...Connelly:
I need a little more information here. Are we talking about Luka?Harrison:
Can't say.Connelly;
Then the answer is No.Harrison four weeks later:
We tried to trade Luka for Edwards but the Wolves said No.
Basically trying to gauge if other teams would ever trade their superstar, and the other team is obviously thinking for anyone but Luka, so why would they care?

Look at how the league has changed the schedule now that Luka is a Lakers. They putting them on Nat'l tv damn near every game. This was a marketing move for the future. Someone has to be the face and Luka had to be that guy and specifically had to be the Lakers.
No GM would put a top 3 player just entering his prime on the trade block. Notice I said trade block. Nobody knew Luka was even available. Red flags that this was behind the scenes and owners had to agree to it for the betterment of the league. This was a money move folks!
No offense but your theory is incredibly stupid.
According to you the owners of the league conspired to send Luka to the Lakers for the betterment of the league.
How do you reconcile this fact: MANY OF THESE SAME OWNERS ARE THE ONES WHO STEPPED IN TO STOP THE CP3 TRADE TO LAL. Explain these owners change of heart less than a year after signing a massive brand new tv deal (aka just got massively paid). They just got a massive cheque and now they’re worried about money? Make that make sense to me.
Your entire theory falls apart if you rub two brain cells together.
No it doesn’t and being so derogatory is really unnecessary. Should I call you stupid for actually believing what you’re told?
Yes, they’re worried about making more money. That’s the only thing they’re ever worried about. It’s a business. The Chris Paul circumstance is also much different.
It wasn’t the collection of owners who said no to the deal; it was David Stern.
The league owned the team and was able to control trade decisions, yes, but it is well documented that as soon as it was reported the collection of owners were not happy and complained to Stern and the league office who were the owners of the Hornets at the time. If the league didn't own the Hornets at the time, the other owners complaints would have been irrelevant in terms of changing the trade.
Including multiple people and the whole league of owners in something like this would actually be exactly what NOT to do if you were trying to have a conspiracy. That's the problem.
