Another crazy stat: among the top 22 players in made threes, not a single one shoots under 80% from the line…
…except Beasley, of course, who is shooting only 66.3% from the line (67/101).
Threesley is a crazy player, man. I honestly think he prefers contested threes to open threes. He often doesn’t set his feet, his natural shot is a slight fade, and he has zero conscience.
Which brings up another question for the GB: What’s this guy getting paid next year? He’s on a crazy bargain prove it deal with Detroit (1/6), but surely will be in greater demand after this. The Pistons definitely want to keep him, and he seems to enjoy being a first or second option whenever he’s in the game, but I imagine he still wants to get PAID. Whaddaya think his next deal looks like?
Reminds me of Bruce Bowen. Awesome corner 3 point shooter. Terrible free throw shooter. never understood it.
What’s extra interesting about Beasley is that he shoots them from everywhere, not just the corner. And unlike some guys, if you do run him off a pin down or multiple screens, he doesn’t need to actually get to a spot and set his feet. He can shoot off balance better than anyone I’ve seen except Steph. Dude is ridiculous.
And honestly, what makes him extra useful if JBB has other options that night, is that he’s also streaky. So if the game is tight and he’s 1 for 7 from three, you just play him a little less. Other nights he’s 6 for 9 and throwing in ridiculous crap over taller defenders, so he gets more minutes and more shots.
In Detroit, he’s become the ultimate bench cheerleader and locker room mood-lightener. He just enjoys excelling in his one role, putting up threes in ~25 minutes a night off the bench. I asked about his next contract because the Pistons really, really need to keep him around. Seems like he wants to stay, too, but money talks and all that…
