Even though he got a 30-burger against us it almost felt like he wasn't on the court. No defensive presence. I don't feel as if he made his teammates better. Some flashy isos and that's it.
I'd rather spend 50 million per season elsewhere given how little he plays.

I like Naz but I’m getting attached to Holland. This is his first year w legit teammates/coach and he’s young and he’s a bad a$$ junkyard dog!

I'm really enjoying his tenacity. Him and Ausar have the potential to be scary on defense, but the conditional statement still stands for both: "If he can learn to shoot...."
Naz can already shoot and he has that dog in him. We could just have all 3!

Agreed. A s&t won't get the T’Wolves Holland on any planet.
I would love to add Naz Reid to this group but he’s starting to get pushed by some into an overrated evaluation.
He’s not worth losing Holland over at this point.
He’s a high level role player.

What do you think Holland's ceiling is in this lineup?

Re: Would you trade for Zion Williamson?
I can't speak for GreekAlex, but Holland's ceiling depends upon his progress on outside shooting. He can score in the mid and at the basket. He's a full time hustling defender and an unselfish teammate who makes some clever passes. This in combination with his excellent athleticism and bounce makes 19 YO Ron an intriguing prospect. I'd hate to see the Pistons part with him too soon.
I'm a no on Zion. Great talent who can't stay healthy or in shape.

If y’all wanna get on the Holland bus, I’ve been driving it around since November.
I think Ron can be an excellent starting SG/SF in this league. He needs to figure out his shot (it doesn’t look bad, but the results suck). I see the second coming of Latrell Sprewell when I look at Ron. Long, athletic, big attitude, lots of skills. Just needs that shot to come along, and I think it will.
I don’t think Ausar’s shot ever will and I don’t really even care. That kid can do whatever him wants on the court even without a long jumper.
We’re just going to have to figure out how to play all these athletes together. I think JBB’s done a great job with it so far.
And yes. I still want shop Ivey, but either someone pays as if he’s already fully recovered, or we wait until he actually is. No need to hurry and sell low.

Re: Would you trade for Zion Williamson?
The misguided critique people have about Ausar is, "boy if he can ever figure out that 3 ball...". When, in reality, Ausar with Shawn Livingston's offensive game would be an All NBA player. If Ausar gets that devastating 15 footer like Livingston and, of course secondary ball handling, with THAT defense......GOODNESS.tmorgan wrote:Snakebites wrote:GreekAlex wrote:

This is from my 7/22/24 SL post:
"Holland is a gifted athlete having pretty much all the athletic tools. He's aggressive and fearless at both ends. Yes, he needs to tighten his handles and improve situational awareness, but he just turned 19. A league average shot is all that stands in the way of being an all-star, and his shot doesn't look hopelessly broken. Holland, who isn't shy of the physical game, will naturally get stronger. He takes defense and rebounding seriously. No one knows what the future holds, but many omens augur well.
November you say? Well, better late than never.

I knew you were the guy saying trade Ivey for Cam Johnson and cheered when Hayes started over Ivey. Now you want to trade him for Naz Reid. Damn man, please dont disappear and keep that same energy when he comes back helping Cade run point and averaging 20pts, shooting close to 40% from 3pter. Please!!!

Re: Would you trade for Zion Williamson?
If I could get him on the same non-guaranteed terms that New Orleans has him, I'd pull the trigger on this. I suspect Zion benefits from a wake-up call and a change of scenery, but we have the flexibility to pivot if he doesn't. My crystal ball doesn't see what we'd get better for Tobias and Simone mid-way through next season, which is how long they'd likely be with us otherwise at the rate things are going. I wouldn't do picks, and New Orleans finds better deals unless they're Dallas-level stupid, or Trajan pulls a Jedi mind trick on on Bryson Graham, so this is all shooting my mouth off.

lol, some of the victory laps you guys will do is hilarious. Ron has been nice, but let’s not act like the guy isn’t anything more than a 12 minute energy guy at the moment.

Indeed, the entire post:
"Out on a limb, IMO the Pistons have a chance of having had a good draft.

Klintman is most importantly a smart player. He sees the floor well and knows how to play the game. Besides being able to shoot,
Klintman shows a knack for passing/playmaking and appears unselfish. Adding strength would likely be a benefit, but after a weak rebounding start acquitted himself pretty well the rest of the way. Kind of strikes me currently as a "stretch 4" type. Some say he lacks athleticism, but mostly he seems to lack burst. His top end speed and bounce seem pretty decent.
If this isn't all fool's gold, it could be a very good draft. Being a fan isn't much fun if you can't keep some hope."
So, in your view my qualifying my observations about both Holland and Klintman disqualifies them? That's a shame. You should be more accepting of those of us who do not share your preternatural clairvoyance. Yes, please don't disappear again tmorgan, as you enlighten and elevate our board like no other. Who else could we trust to drive this bus with such utter certainty?
Here, I thought Ivey was coming on like a future Allstar before his encounter with the reckless Cole Anthony, but if you think we should shop him I suppose we should.

Sign n Trade THJ and Ivey for Zion. Give THJ like $25-30 mil one year deal. Then, bring back Bease for MLE. That way, can keep Tobias for depth at PF.

I am just goofing around.
I do like Holland a ton, though. Problem is, it’s going to take him awhile even if he does develop the way I think he will. But I like that his bigger issues are offensive, while Ivey’s bigger issues are defensive. If we can put out a lineup with no defensive holes, I can live with struggling to score on occasion. When we send out Cade/Holland/Ausar/Tobias (or future acquisition)/Stewart, there’s no one to pick on. We need Duren to keep working defensively, and we need Ivey to improve there as well to create more options.
Such a fun team to watch develop.

Yes, sports boards are a place to have fun. Anyone who's been here any significant time is a Pistons fan. Opinions may vary on this and that but the larger goal is the same.

Just out of my curiosity and find you to be a smart poster. What other guys have you been high on? I don’t think I’ve seen you high on many players is why I’m asking. It gets me even more excited for Holland that you’re excited about him.
Pistons future looking nice, I’m excited. Not sure I want a big name or they keep trying the internal thing.
