Re: Sign Al Horford or Luke Kornet
I say give them both $5-6M/yr. -- Horford's Salary should be declining, if it's multi-year.
Jut re-proportion what they're getting now.

Horford. He is the difference maker when it counts in the POs.

Plan A
Promise al to retire his number for vet min
Promise Luke to name his first born son Kornet after him
Plan b
Brad Promises to get Luke and or al face tattoos of them if they sign vet min
I'm thinking brad stevens meets tekashi 6ix9ine
Bradley 6ix9ine bleeds green

Both if you can
One of JB, KP, Jrue and Hauser will be probably moved
I'll move Hauser if it gets me under the 2nd apron

Offer AL a 2yr 8mil with the second year being a player option like Russ. Tells him you want him back if they’re going for the dynasty and lets him decide after that.

Re: Sign Al Horford or Luke Kornet
Trade JB for rights to Flagg. Dump Hauser for future pick. Sign Peterson (likely before RS 2025 ends). Sign FRP. Sign 2RP to two-way. Sign a veteran or Davison to minimum. Sign Horford to BAE. Let Kornet walk unless he’s cool with another season at minimum.
White | Holiday | Tatum | Flagg | Porzingis
Pritchard | Walsh | Scheierman | Horford | Queta
Vet/Davison | FRP | Peterson | Tillman (or whoever you get for Tillman in a trade)
C's get under the tax. Yay.

How can you answer without the salaries attached? Swap this year's salaries for the next 2 years, with a team option on Al, however, and I'd be good with that.

I am starting to think someone will offer Kornet substantially more than what Boston is willing to pay.

I think he'll be offered a lot more money than people around here envision.
Whether Boston pays that will be interesting.

We really need both of them back. I'd be fine with Luke as starting center.
Jrue/Sam/PP most likely to be moved, I think.
Although we could get a LOT for JB. That would take Red Auerbach style balls to make that move though.

Re: Sign Al Horford or Luke Kornet
I'm thinking a somewhat realistic result is Horford back on the vet minimum while Kornet goes to greener pastures.
Kornet is likely getting multiple multi-year offers in excess of the minimum based on his play and he hasn't made the kind of money in his career where it makes sense to turn that down. Conversely it's going to be hard for Brad to justify paying over the minimum for his 3rd center that doesn't feature as part of the current playoff rotation.
Horford is still the better player but has less leverage given that next year would likely be at least his penultimate year and I doubt he wants to risk another Philly situation by leaving for more money (although I guess it depends on the money). I think Brad can play hardball there if he's willing to and try to get Al on board with accepting the vet minimum (especially since the league kicks in the extra money vs. the C's). That's probably an easier pill to swallow if we're simultaneously letting Luke walk for more money as it backs up the idea that we're getting squeezed at the margins and hopefully Al is willing to be a good solider.
I'd be pretty happy with that outcome if that's where we landed. Obviously would much rather them both back and as cheap as we can get them but that just doesn't seem realistic.
Hard to let Luke go given his consistency but if it means there's less pressure on letting core playoff rotation pieces go, I think it makes the most sense. Continue to try and develop Queta and ideally draft and develop another project big-man and hopefully we plug the gap.
If Horford leaves because he's getting drastically more money or just plain retires, I think we're in a much better spot to retain Luke because his availability/consistency would steady the ship in a post-Horford world, but I still wouldn't be surprised if we got out priced regardless.

Are you assuming a commitment to single-big lineups?
Do you believe Luke's role and abilities are substantially the same as they were last season?

No I think Joe would still try to work the double big but now just downshifting to Queta and/or a minimum level free agent acquisition/rookie. It'll be an obvious downgrade, but it's a cap casualty not a basketball decision. If it's not working then I'd expect it to be minimized but not altogether removed from the gameplan.
With respect to Luke, I do think his role and ability are substantially the same as they were last season. His role is a bit more prominent but he serves largely the same function as the 3rd big who steps up in times of injury or rest. His ability is pretty much the same although I definitely think there is an uptick in terms of his connectedness with the rest of the rotation players and his confidence, which translates to better overall play.
I'm assuming when Joe tightens his rotations that Luke will be one of the odd men out, similar to last season. Although he's been so consistent in what he does I can see a path to Joe leaning on him during certain stretches/match-ups (especially to preserve Al/KP).
I don't think we'll be better off without Luke or that Queta or another player could easily replicate what Luke's been doing for us, butt unless he's cracking that playoff rotation I think it'll be hard to justify the price-tag. It'll be harder to convince Horford to take less if you're giving Luke more and it's already going to be nearly impossible to give them both what they deserve, so something has to give.
I'm kind of hoping some other team gives Luke an overpayment of a contract that we wouldn't match irrespective of cap considerations and we can feel like the decision has been taken out of our hands for the most part. Luke gets paid, we don't feel bad, roll on trying to find an adequate replacement.

I think Joe does see Luke as a full rotation player now.
That implies a rotation of 9, which is hard to test, as all 9 guys are rarely healthy and rested at once. But even in the playoffs, I think we're at the point where he plays whichever of the 9 are healthy, plus whoever after that he has to.
Not coincidentally, I think Luke is more athletic than he used to be, and harder for defenses to hunt. There are perimeter players who even hunt Gobert or Giannis, so of course those guys will hunt Luke as well. But playing Kornet defensively is a lot like playing Porzingis defensively now, and vice-versa. If anything, Kornet is more willing to be physical because he's (rightly) less afraid of getting hurt.

I can definitely see that as a possibility with Joe and Luke's definitely earned his spot in the top 9.
I personally wouldn't have him cracking my playoff rotation with a fully healthy squad but he'd certainly be the next man up for me. His defense has been great and he's solid offensively with the pick and roll and just hanging out in front of the rim, but the firepower we get out of combinations with the top 8 is too much to pass up. I'd have him playing maybe 5+ minutes on average maybe but not in the realm of a Hauser or Pritchard.
I see Luke as just being on the cusp of joining that tier but I see him as more of a regular season asset and playoff insurance piece rather than a genuine playoff rotation piece. Joe may have that differently though and I wouldn't be surprised.
If Joe is playing him 10-15 minute in the playoff (and he plays well), his contract for next year changes dramatically. And although he'd prove to be more important to us than a "regular season asset" other teams are going to see that and offer him even more and then something has to give.
