Here's where I think it's important to be careful. Luxury tax, absolutely should and likely will be in play. But that doesn't mean it's okay to be reckless and stay above the second apron for years on end. That would be a death sentence fo any front office or ownership group, especially one that may or may not have concerns about finances longterm (I'm not saying that I believe they do).

Agreed. And what I think might happen is a statement in six months that goes:

Our plan is still to build a stadium as early as 2031, but after the cash outlay to buy the team, it may be closer to 2033 or 2034. We hate that the antiquated arena is causing so many fans to miss the opportunity to see the exciting Timberwolves team we have now. We propose the city issue bonds and tax breaks to help cover some of the initial costs to get the process of building a new arena started immediately. We hope that the public is excited about the team as we are, and supports this bond issue.

I’d be in favor of this, and it capitalizes on the Wolves current success, in an NBA where maintaining success for multiple years is next to impossible. This also isn’t an unusual request for most ownership groups.

- get in touch with KG and hang his jersey (the easiest and most entertaining)
- get money for new arena (the most difficult)
- clear up situation with TC contract
- Randle situation
- new contracts of Reid, NAW
- draft

I just hope that they dont f**c up this organisation like new owners of DAL did. ARod and Lore kind of got a second chance because Gobert and Towns trade were made in co-pilot mode with Taylor. But now it is really time to WORK and build something special

+ sign Jaylen Clark to Gupta special deal
+ find backup C
+ draft well AND dont trade drafted players (I am looking at you Tim)

Okay, my wish list for this offseason in priority order:

0) re-sign TC
1) agree on Reid extension starting from 25mil per year
2) agree on NAW extension starting from 12mil per year
3) sign Clark to Gupta special: 8mil / 3yrs
4) sign DayRon Sharpe to multiyear deal: 32 mil for 4 yrs
5) draft a bigman or big wing: Rasheer Fleming or Khaman Maluach (other options Carter Bryant, Collin Murray-Boyles, Thomas Sorber, Derik Queen, Danny Wolf, Noa Essengue), BPA at UTA pick
6) find solution for Randle situation
7) open new season with KG jersey retirement show
8) put a feasible and realistic plan to build a new arena

I have concerns about Gobert long-term future, I think his impact will naturally decrease. Thats why three major decision are related to frontcourt: Reid, FA signing and draft.

Gobert/Reid/Sharpe
Reid/McDaniels/Fleming
McDaniels/NAW/Clark
Edwards/DDV/TJ
DDV/Dilly/Conley

Let Mother Nature take its course … good odds they will settle their issue on their own and this will all be a done deal by 4th of July.

You know, Glen, you could have had larger sale number if you had just done what Lore & Arod did once you gave them a little bit of latitude, hired basketball people to run the basketball business. If you had done this 10 years ago, you might have sold the team for double what you wound up selling it for. Let it go, you have more money than you are going to spend for the rest of your life anyway.

Well...he did step up back in the 90's when we needed a local buyer and Marv and Harv wanted to move the team. I remember a lot of anxious times wondering what would happen with the Wolves.

Still the worst owner, however. To an appalling degree.

When is ARod supposed to take over? Is it immediately or after the season? Who is stuck with the second apron tax bill :-)

I hope that all things will align for MIN:

- new ownership high level vision, taxes and investment, new stadium
- playoff run
- new TC contract
- Dillingham, TJ Shannon and Clark development
- Randle situation
- Reid and NAW situations
- draft

Interesting nugget from Hine:

As for Taylor, the 83-year-old will have the option to remain a presence at Wolves and Lynx games. The purchase agreement stipulated that Taylor, who also owns the Minnesota Star Tribune, would receive, without charge, four courtside seats, one suite and two reserved parking spaces for every home regular season and playoff game for both teams.

Those benefits would go to Taylor, or his heirs, for the remainder of Taylor’s life or 10 complete seasons. Taylor recently returned to Wolves games after an absence following hip replacement surgery late last year.
