I screwed myself out of a perfect guess that would have sealed the deal, I'm like Duke in the clutch...

Changed my guess for the Thunder game. They are sitting out everybody, so be advised (check the game thread).

Final Results from the worst season in franchise history:
Thanks to all who endured, and especially Commissioner Jazz Dog for your work in putting this together for another season!

No perfect guesses
Jazz Dog perfect score for the Portland Game

Biggest Gain: Jazz Dog: 41

Final Results:
Congratulations Inigo, this year's GTS Champion!

Inigo 481 29
Red4hf 463 23
JazzguyWA 450 17
TN Jazz 438 33
Age1207 420 40
Jazz Dog 408 41

While the last segment saw no changes, up until that point this was an extremely competitive and tightly contested Season. Inigo separated from the pack on the Charlotte game. Prior to that game, Inigo, Red, and Jazz Guy would rotate leading game by game.

Here are some interesting observations:

- There were 3 different overall leaders at the conclusion of a segment. Red, Inigo, TNJazz
- for about 20 games (between the ASB & the Charlotte game) the leader would change almost after every game (Red, Jazz Guy, Inigo)
- 5 different Lead Changes after a segment (no one ran away from there pack)
- Every player had the biggest gain in a segment at least once (Jazz Dog, you broke through this final segment!!!)
- Every player who participated for the entire season guessed the score exactly at least once, with 3 doing it twice

I have some observations for consideration for next season that I will post shortly.

Thank you for a fun way to make this season go down a little easier. Looking forward to next, let's hope the work at losing pays off come lottery day!

Some thoughts on possibly improving the scoring:

The most difficult aspect is to exactly guess the score. For the 6 players who ended the season, there were 492 guesses, only 9 times did an exact guess happen, which is 1.8%.

The following happened every time an exact score was guessed but missed the bonus: A player who was within 3 points (a 6 point spread, 3 above or 3 below) and got the bonus was awarded more points. Exact Guess = 10 PTS Close guess + bonus = 12 points

Based on this finding, I would like to propose a slight rule change for next year: Keep all point spreads as normal, but make the bonus question worth only 2 points instead of 5.

Currently:
Exact Guess = 10 with bonus 15
1-3 = 7 with bonus 12
4-7 = 5 with bonus 10
8 or more = 3 with bonus 8
incorrect winner chosen = -3 with Bonus +2
Bonus 5 - missed bonus = 0

Proposed scoring change:
Exact Guess 10 with Bonus 12
1-3 = 7 with Bonus 9
4-7 = 5 with Bonus 7
8 or more = 3 with Bonus 5
incorrect winner chosen = -3 with Bonus -1
Bonus 2 - missed bonus = 0

This does several things:
1. Still gives Bonus points - a really fun twist.
2. If the incorrect team is chosen to win, there is still a reduction for that. This would result in a 1 point deduction for choosing the winner incorrectly, thereby not rewarding a missed guess. More in line with the reduction for choosing the wrong winning team.
3. It rewards the perfect score more than a close score with the bonus. This would make the exact score (10) the close score with bonus (9)

Just some thoughts based on observations made this season.

TNJazz I am good with the suggestion as well. Gives a little added costs to picking the wrong team. This year it was harder to have bonus questions since you couldn’t target individuals since you weren’t sure they were going to play. Congrats to Inigo for the win I am glad I was able to make you all feel better about the year. I was trying to will the Jazz to last place by being the Jazz of GTS this year.

The fourth title is just as fun as the first one. I had to create some separation from FJS who had won it twice in a row.

I'd like to thank all the participants who helped make this season more interesting and fun than it would have been, especially since this one was very close from start to finish. It felt like everyone were in it for most of the season, and Red4hf and JazzguyWA certainly gave me a run for my money.

As for the proposed changes, I have no problem with what is suggested.

Most of all, thank you to The Commissioner Jazz Dog and TNJazz for managing the game and investing their time and effort to keep us all engaged. It is much appreciated.

Thanks everyone for another fun season. Now onto the draft--time to capture the Flagg.
